Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author who “hilariously depicts modern dating” (Us Weekly) comes a sexy romantic comedy about online dating and its many, many fails.

With a world-famous speaker at their university, Millie Morris and her four woefully single male colleagues make a pact that they’ll all find dates. Unfortunately, Millie has more success helping them make matches online than she does navigating the onslaught of lewd pics in her own feed. But when she creates a fictional name for a new account, Millie finds herself vying for the online attention of a man she sees every day in the flesh.

Female narrator was not great

I liked the story and the male narrator was fine. The female narrator though, I’m having a hard time trying to describe what she sounded like. She would draw out her vowels with this weird drawl that made her sound like an odd older woman, but she was supposed to be 29? I was very confused. I don’t want to be mean, but it was really distracting.

Thoughtful

These authors always seem to have that exact combo of sweet and sexy and I love it. I savor their books.

This is one of my favorite Tropes, friends to lovers. It really was eye-opening to see that you can be friends with someone but not really “know” them if they don’t want you to. Or if they can’t open up like you need them to. It was eye-opening if you think about your friends in your own life how true this can be.

I loved that Millie is like one of the guys and when they all choose to go on the dating app she really is the voice of reason. Only when it comes to herself she isn’t comfortable doing what she can for them for herself.

I loved the mystery ;) and how it all played out it was different and I liked that.

I am a huge fan of both narrators so I thoroughly enjoyed their performances.

What Can I Say

I know it isn't fair but every book I listen to by Christina Lauren I end up comparing it to their Sweet Filthy Boy. And because of that I can't give My Favorite Half-Night Stand five stars. It is a good book but it isn't their best. It has all the right ingredients. Snappy dialog, likable characters, decent story line, HEA ending, but it never really made me emotionally invest in them. The female narrator is good and the male narrator is to a lessor extent. As I said it may not be their best work, but it was still worth the credit.

Narrator is just...bad

I really liked the content of the story but decided halfway through to just buy to book and read it myself Bc the female narrator is just...awful. The main character is supposed to be 29 but the voice sounds like it belongs to a frumpy 60 year old woman. It doesn’t fit the character at all and keeps removing me from the story, especially from scenes that are supposed to be romantic. Waste of a credit, but the story is great so maybe just buy the book instead.

I don't know how I feel about that...

So, first let me start by saying I LOVE the authors of this book and I have been a fan since the beginning. This book had me conflicted and I am still not really sure how I feel about that.

It is basically a case of mistaken identity, keeping secrets too long, missed opportunities, etc. In the end, the blame game is where I became really conflicted. I was angry on her behalf, then I was angry on his behalf...then I was upset with her, then I was upset with him. Still, I am not sure how I feel the events.

That is what I love about the authors though.I believe a sign of a good book is the hangover that it gives you after you have finished it. And I have a massive hangover from this one. This book is going to stay with me for a long time just because I still have conflicting emotions regards to the characters and their actions.

Worth a credit!

Not a fan off the narrators.....

Book was super cute but a few times it was relatively annoying with the back/forth reading of IM’s and messages. The female narrator had a weird drawl when speaking and the male narrator didn’t sound like the sexy man they described him as. He sounded more feminine and hyper-articulated, making it just blah for me.

Sweet romance

A little slow, pretty tame, and very short, but a sweet and realistic romance between best friends. The detailed characterizations made the group of friends wholly believable and relatable. I'm a fan of Shayna Thibodeaux's performances. I think she has a great voice and brings a little spunk to her characters. But Deacon Lee is boring to listen to. He deadpans every line, and I have trouble picturing a strong male lead when his voice is attached.

My favorite half night stand

Millie and her four best guy friends set up online dating profiles after making a pact at a black tie gala. Millie uses her real name Catherine and gets dinged by Reid. Her best friend and one of the guys. She's always liked Reid but was to chicken to say anything. While they talk online Millie says certain things to show Reid it's her but to no luck they fly over his head. When Reid finds out will this break their friendship for good? Great read.

Amazing

This is such an amazing book. I don't know why I left in my TBR pile for so long.
All the characters are funny, quirky and just all together adorable. I laughed out loud so much but the story had quite a bit of emotional lows and highs.
The narration is right on point.

Delightful and funny chick lit

So much fun! And so funny. I laughed out loud several times. Was delightful on audio with different narrators for the Millie and Reid chapters. The readers both had slightly unusual voices but they totally worked for me, and they both did nice jobs with all the other character voices too. Definitely recommend if you like your Chick Lit with a nice dose of humor tossed in. Well worth the Audible credit.
