Publisher's summary

My Exile Lifestyle is a memoir made of stories from the life of author, entrepreneur, and full-time traveler, Colin Wright. From his early years as an antisocial geek, to his high-flying career in Los Angeles, to his life as a wandering vagabond, Colin holds nothing back as he talks about love, business, blogging, and culture through tales that span four continents. In the easy to digest style of storytelling that has made his other work such a success, Colin discusses life on the road and nothing is too taboo. Every epic, embarrassing, and awkward detail is covered with sometimes brutal honesty.

his adventures with girls and parties

love the podcast let's know things but couldn't finish this book. Too many stories of how he hooked up with a girl. Underwhelmed but still love his podcast and recent work.

Not enough substance, narration was rough

What disappointed you about My Exile Lifestyle?

The delivery of the narrator was grating and heavy-handed. I would have much preferred to hear the book read in Colin Wright's own voice, which I believe he has since started doing on more recent books. Although I enjoyed Colin's philosophical musings, there just wasn't enough substance (maybe not enough noteworthy events that occurred during his travels) to parley into a full-length book. Many of the anecdotes just didn't engage me, although I really wanted them to. Also, I had expected (maybe as a result of reading other reviews) more gritty, awkward, embarrassing moments....things I could relate to and that might cause me to think, "Wow, Colin Wright tells stories with such unshrinking honesty. If a guy like that can go out and pay his dues, make an ass of himself, live intentionally, and still manage to have a successful and fulfilling life, maybe there's hope for people like me." But then again, someone with Colin's genetic gifts is most likely on a completely different playing field than the average human.

If you’ve listened to books by Colin Wright before, how does this one compare?

I've listen to his LTK podcasts, which are excellent and of a much higher quality both in content and production.

Would you be willing to try another one of Angel Clark’s performances?

Probably not.

Any additional comments?

I was a fan of Colin Wright before listening to this audio-book. My feedback is coming from a place of respect and constructive criticism.

Good story, bad narration

The narrator's voice was very distracting for me and I couldn't focus on the story which btw is good!

I like Colin's work but it's a lot better when he narrates.

Couldn’t relate with author

I was put off by the story because it begins and continues with the man being an entitled white man. He has no struggles, he believes himself to be above others, and is not humble for any of the blessings that God has given. His perspectives on life as he travels seem to be as an amused spectator as opposed to being in the moment and humble.
Totally turned off by this person. Let me also include the fact that I listen to this memoir as not having known who this person is. Now I know that I don’t want to.

Self obsessed

this book is mainly uninteresting and meaningless, the few interesting things and events are broken off by self flattering stories about the writers female conquests and complaints about lack of WiFi...I expected much more!
