When Nick Ashford lost his friend, Mason, he didn't realize he was going to lose his family as well, but that's exactly what happened. Alone and in a foreign country, Nick is working on rebuilding his life one patient at a time, that is, until a striking volunteer makes her presence known.

Can Nick finish his year in Africa without risking his heart being broken again, or is he willing to start a new chapter in his life before his return to Beaumont?

I like the fact the author concluded Nik's story. And, how people should interact with children involved .

Nice it was finished

There just was not enough here to justify the addition of a new story. I felt this could have been intermingled with the other story ir as an after thought.

Narration was cool, smooth, and gave vibes if the character.

story was lacking

Nice way to clear things up from book 1.
Can't hate Nick anymore. Good job.

Nice

A little too short. It should have gone into the new relationship a bit more. Maybe ignored the South African accent as he sort of butchered that one.. and maybe spent a little more time developing their relationship as to the reader it was like Ho new woman, married, the end... I mean 3 months is a long time and we could have got a few hours out of that so that the reader in fully invested in their relationship. This should have been at least 4 hours long. He was such a major role in the first book and his abrupt departure from that story left lingering question and this book is just so short it is actually insulting to his character. Like a footnote... oh by the way here is what happened to Nick.. the end
For what the story was I give it all five stars but just know that this story had so much more potential

Cute but...

After losing Josie and Noah to Liam's return, Nick left Beaumont and escaped to Doctors Without Borders in Africa. He regrets leaving, but he had no other choice, because he couldn't stand between Noah and his father. He enjoys being a doctor, but in Africa he has found himself as a man. He notices a beautiful South African woman, Aubrey, who is one of his new co-workers. He'd like to get to know her and she's given him some indication that she's interested, so he asks her to dinner. Things go beautifully until Aubrey tells him she wants to go to college. With that age difference, he feels guilty that she won't want to go back to the United States with him when his time in Africa is over. It's a really nice story of Nick coming to terms with his past and opening up to his hopes for the future.

Redemption!
