Publisher's summary

Daisy, a widowed mom of two teenagers, is used to feeling protective - so when Iris started dating the wealthy and not-quite-divorced Harvey Fitz, she worried...especially after his bitter ex stormed in and caused a scene at the party Daisy's Tea Garden was catering. Then there was the gossip she overheard about Harvey's grown children being cut out of his will. Daisy didn't want her aunt to wind up with a broken heart - but she never expected Iris to wind up a suspect in Harvey's murder.

Now the apple bread and orange pekoe is on the back burner while the cops treat the shop like a crime scene - and Daisy hopes that Jonas Groft, a former detective from Philadelphia, can help her clear her aunt's name and bag the real killer before things boil over....

It was ok

The main character explains things too much and mom splains a lot it’s a bit cheesy but an ok easy listen. Not a huge fan of the voice who reads the story.

You won't see this one coming

Well developed plot. There are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. There is enough action to keep it interesting.

Good cozy murder mystery

I haven't delved into audio books in a while but I really enjoyed this one. Without giving anything away... I thought the storyline of the mystery itself was good. There were some predictable parts but not so much that it was annoying but thats why i gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I live in the region in which the book is set (philadlephia region.. South East PA) and I thought the description of the area and of PA in general was pretty good and actually made me feel more involved with the story. I can't wait to start book 2.

Not too fast not too slow

I enjoyed this audio book. The family and friends in this book are warm and realistic. I found myself wanting to have tea at Daisy’s Tea Garden and taste her scones!

ENJOYABLE NEW SERIES FOR ME

I LIKE THESE CHARACTERS, ESPECIALLY JOSH, AND I LIKE THAT DAISY RESPECTS HER DAUGHTERS BUT DOES DRAW THE LINE. I HATE STORIES WITH PERPETUALLY SULLEN KIDS.

MS. COONEY IS NOT ONE OF MY FAVORITE READERS. SHE IS TOO STILTED, ALMOST ROBOTIC, AT TIMES. SHE HAS PROMISE BUT NEEDS TO RELAX AND SPEAK NATURALLY.

Hooked me!

I love the "cozy" mysteries. Now I'm adding this series to my collections. Wish I could find a tea shop close to me, mysteries don't need to be on the menu!

Narrator drove me nuts

I enjoyed the story but was put off by the extremely precise pronunciation of every single word!

Slender storyline

I loved the title of this one, and looked forward to something cozy with a bit of sharp wit for spice. But the writing seemed too self-conscious, too aware of laying down plot points, and the characters never spoke with a natural cadence. I don’t know if the writing gets better as the series progresses, but I’m afraid I’ll take this as a miss...not a hit.
