What made the experience of listening to Murder in Silence the most enjoyable?

I didn't realize when I bought the book that it was a "first in series" . I immediately went to my computer to get the next book in the series and there was none. I am so disappointed - the writer really draws you into his world and you kind of want to hang around to find out what happens!
