Publisher's summary

In this, the fourth installment of the Doyle and Acton mystery series, Detective Sergeant Doyle realizes that several apparently unrelated murders are actually "containment" murders - murders to contain an ominous scandal that could reach into the highest levels of Scotland Yard's CID.

In the process of tracking down the killers, however, she comes to the unsettling conclusion that Chief Inspector Acton has committed a containment murder or two of his own.

Loved the entire thing

The story was riveting . I loved the ease of the different accents. Very listenable as I drive down the back roads. I look forward to more.

Change of narrator

Story good, but new narrator was distracting. The voices of Acton and Williams too similar; Doyle lacked the natural Irish note of teasing. Disappointed, but I do love this series.

Great narrator

This is my first book by this author. I found some things hard to accept. Such as, the head of police keeping illegal guns, his police wife being ok with it and a few other things. The narrator does a really good job of bringing the characters to life and providing a different voice for the characters. I'm not sure if I would listen to another book by this author, but, I will listen to a book narrated by Maryne Young.

Update on my first review

While I can’t say the narration was perfect, I must confess that I became more accustomed to the narration before the book was finished. The story is good. The characters are intriguing. I will continue to listen to this series.

Wonderful

This is the third book in this series and the first one I have read. I so enjoyed this audio book. Marnye Young does a fabulous job of narrating this story. I will be looking for more books narrated by Marnye. Anne Cleeland is a author that I was not familiar with. I really enjoyed her banter between her characters. I will be looking into more in this series. I was gifted this audio book with the understanding I would leave an honest review.

Good story, poor narrator

The narrator was very distracting, definitely just reading her lines. The story, as usual, was fabulous.

Why did they change narrator?

I've really enjoyed this series of books, but the new narrator, Marnye Young, is horrible. Detective Sergeant Doyle is supposed to be around 24 years old and the original narrator, Marcella Riordan, was so right for the innocent young Detective Sergeant Doyle. Sound is horrible at times. The list goes on. Marnye Young is just simply the wrong narrator. I'm hesitant to continue following this series. Book is good but so ruined by the narrator who does such a horrible job.

Fun story!

I enjoy this series very much, have read all so far, and gotten the 4 on Audible, loved Marcella Riordan and had a difficult time with this narrator, but about half way thru the book her voice grew on me, and it wasn’t as jarring.

Why the change in narrators?!?!

I have really enjoyed this series up until now. This narrator is awful. I am only a few chapters in but I don't know if I will be able to finish it. She slurs her words, mumbles and reads too quickly. It truly is awful! My listening to this series may just end here.

Each more exciting than the last

The narrator could have done a better job with more distinct differences in voices . There some obvious text errors, mostly wrong names which is confusing at the time . Story is great, though!
