Love this series

I have been so pleased to find this series set in the post World War I era of the 1920s. Olive is becoming a favorite detective of mine not only because she’s a woman but she’s very clever! I really was guessing throughout most of the book who is the true murderer and had a bit of a surprise near the end! The parrot was a nice touch! I’m still wondering about Jasper, what role will he have in Olive’s life? The narrator is excellent!! I really get into the story listening to her accent and the way she paces the reading. A full immersion experience plugged into a different time and story line via an audible book.

Love This Series

Sara Rosett does a great job with this mystery series. She portrays the time period and actions realistically. The mystery is well crafted and well paced. I love the budding romance between Jasper and Olive. Although Jasper is portrayed as flighty, I know there is more to him and I can't wait to see how he and Olive develop together.

Cute English cozy

I’m in love with these characters! As usual it was a great listen that was perfectly narrated.
I can’t wait to see what they get up to in the next books!

Sorry, but could not even get through the first half an hour

It may have been a nice story, but the narration was sooo flat that it put me to sleep!
I could not get into the story, I could not distinguish between different characters and figure out who was who and what was going on.
Just incredibly boring narration!

Another great installment in a wonderful series!

This is an utterly addicting series - the perfect combination of author and narrator, with sparkling ‘performances’ by both! The only sad part is having to wait (again!) for the *next* installment! Thank you so very much for your charming and beguiling work, Ms. Rosett and Dr. Klett!!

Another very enjoyable entry in the series

Another entertaining Olive Belgrave mystery by Sara Rosett. This time Olive's at a house party at Parkview, a needed reprieve because she's losing her home and must find a new rented room. But she stumbles into the scene of a possible murder. Her shell-shocked cousin Peter is the only other person in the Conservatory and can't really remember anything. The victim is a nasty piece of work who was selling allegedly autographed maps. Although alternative suspects seem to come out of the woodwork, the constable, whom cousin Gwen admired from afar, seems to fixate on Peter... As usual, Jasper is on hand to lend Olive a hand, and she finally has a glimmering about him! Took her long enough - some detective!

gives an awful bored sigh as she says the chapter number...."chapterhuu 22ooooh"
Not a criticism bc she narrates excellently.

Delightful installment in the series

This was excellent. A lovely cozy British mystery. Character development is wonderful, along with plotting and setting. I really liked how the author wove in a developing/changing relationship with the main character's step-mother, very well done example of a sub-plot. The relationship of Olive and Gwen along with their family members and potential love interests are extremely well-done. This is a very talented author and a wonderful, immersive, fun series. 4.5

Great writing!

This is a great book! I love the characters and the great writing of the plot. Some books in a series come to be like here we go again another dead body solved by the same person blah blah blah. This series by Sara Rosett isn’t like that. The writing is such that even though Olive is doing the investigations and Jasper is always around to help, each book and story is like a whole new mystery and not the same at all. There are so many interesting places, and the murders all seem like they could realistically take place there. I can’t wait for the author to write more in this series! I also couldn’t imagine another narrator doing these books either. She makes the characters come to life in a very real way. Bravo to another great book!

Still no depth of character, but good fun!

This is much better than the previous one, in fact it is my overall favourite thus far, of the series. The plot was far more interesting and the total lack of suspects - except for the chosen suspect - is rather skilfully done.

I am disappointed that there is no evidence of depth of character with any of the recurring characters, but overall this was a great listen. The narrator, Elizabeth Klett does a very good job with all of the different characters.
