Publisher's Summary

Armed with a new counseling degree, Patience Price is eager to move back home to Chincoteague Island to help folks with their problems. But she finds the streets awash in more than East Coast charm. There's been a murder, and Adrian Davis, the town golden boy who once stomped her heart into a zillion pieces, is the main suspect. Now he's on the run, claiming he's innocent. Patience finds this...poetic. Not that she holds a grudge.

Adrian's mom is sure that with her FBI background Patience can find the truth. Yes, she was at the FBI - in human resources. Still, she looks into it, but not everyone is happy with her snooping. Either that, or the welcome wagon has some bold new policies involving drive-by shootings.

Things really heat up when a hunky former coworker, an actual FBI agent, arrives to help. But he may be too late; the quaint island harbors deadly secrets - and Patience is running out of time.

Well that was amusing...

Pleasantly surprised. I found the main character very relatable and enjoyed her laughable quips and comments. Definitely worth a read or listen. Entertaining from beginning to end.

Excellent Storyline!

Being in love with the ponies of Chincoteague Island, the setting of the book grabbed me. I plan to visit the east coast this summer and that is one of the places I intend to go. There was enough action to keep me listening - enough intrigue and wonderful descriptions of the area - that should keep me busy trying to find out just how accurate Ms Lindsey is in her stories of the surroundings. Looking forward to it!

Story is good, but the narrator needs serious prac

Story was good, not sure why all of these heroines have to always be in their 20s though. Is it for the romance, protagonist has to be child-bearing age? I don't know. I'm a fan of the author and I did enjoy this, however, WOW to the narrator. Probably the worst narrator I've ever heard. She was a cross between a robot and a granny with the worst southern accent ever. I mean, wow.

Fabulous

I loved it! All of her books keep me interested in the plot and I tend to feel like I know her characters. I highly recommend any of her books.

Enjoyable Read

I love the tenacity of the main character. I found the characters to be funny and very likeable. The author did a good job of building the plot. I enjoyed the love triangle and I'm anxious to begin the next book in this series to see how that unfolds. As always Julie created an atmosphere that I wish I could live in. There were many times I laughed out loud and times I was fighting sleep to see how Patience got herself out of the disasters she continued to find herself the star of.

This narrator wasn't for me

I absolutely loved the book, the characters and the storyline. I enjoyed them so much that I listened to the whole book even though the narrator was a challenge for me. She sounded so much like a grandma that I struggled picturing a young, vivacious heroine. When she drooled over the hot guys, it felt creepy. lol!

So loved the book, it kept me guessing, but I'd love a new narrator for the next books.

Disappointed! Could have been so good!

There were some fresh and original plot directions. some likable characters and some laugh-out-loud humor spots. A quarter-way into the book I was looking forward to enjoying the rest. But Lindsey started trying to embody Stephanie Plum and it didn't work! I don't know how Evanovich does it but when Lindeys's character Patience Price bulldozes into danger it's not funny; it's just painfully annoyingly dumb. I think it's bcz Lindsey doesn't finesse Patience into the situations with some seemingly good reasons. She just dumps Patience into the run-ins. And there are too many of them. Also, the situation where two delicious hunky men are romantically interested in her lacks the subtlety to make it funny/fun. it comes out as corny most of the time. Maybe Lindsey just wrote it too fast. When I say I was disappointed i mean it - there were so many good points in this book, like descriptions of buildings, nature etc and the exaggeratedly quirky parents came through as fun and entertaining - not stupid. I wish Lindsey had put a little more work into this book. I suspect she has the talent/ability to do so. There are two more in this series. So far I'm not willing to spend the credit to find out.
