Great reading!! Voice actor is superb

Great, and true picture of a cat lover. Charlie is a great detective. Kenisha is a PITA!! No self confidence and takes it out on on Charlie. Downloaded the next two.

Murder Past Due is book 1 in the Cat in the Stacks series. This is a cozy mystery set in Mississippi, USA. The main character, Charlie, is a 50 something widowed man with grown children who are out of the house and live in other places. He is a librarian and has a cat named Diesel that is almost a second main character. Charlie rents rooms to college students during the school year. One of his boarders has some trouble that lands them all in a murder investigation. This was a good intro to the series, and thank goodness because I took a gamble and purchased the whole series in the recent audible sale. The only thing that was weird for me and took a little getting used to is that even though the main character is a man, the narrator is a woman. After I got used to it, I ended up enjoying the narration overall. I think now that the main character and setting has been introduced, the next books will be even better with less time spent on introducing it all. I am giving this book 4 stars.

Bittersweet and realistic

I like that the story was relatable but not too deep that it makes it hard for me to bear.

Talk about a Surprise ending!

The plot was off the chain! Kept me guessing to the very end. I can usually figure out “who done” very on but not this time. Well written & narrated, Looking forward to reading more from this author.
