Publisher's Summary

All Mrs. Pollifax wants on this spring day is the peace and quiet of her Connecticut greenhouse. Then she discovers that a young woman, Kadi Hopkirk, has been hiding in her junk closet for two days. Kadi spills out an improbable story - that since a chance meeting with a childhood friend she has been followed by persons unknown in a sinister van. She's convinced that the henchmen inside are hellbent on finding her. A little experiment on Mrs. P's part proves at least this part of the story correct.

Kadi soon confides the rest of the story - a close tie with an assassinated foreign president and an item in her possession that makes both her and our sleuth moving targets for - someone. When Mrs. P puts in a call for help to her old CIA crony Carstairs, he's wrapped up in the kidnap of a wealthy financier. Before she knows it, what began as a dash for safety and a call for help expands into an assignment that leads to hair-trigger violence in exotic places.

NOTE THE DIFFERENT NARRATOR!

Any additional comments?

I was SOOO disappointed when I bought this! I am the type to ALWAYS listen first to the sample- except this one time. I love the Mrs Pollifax series with the narrator, Barbara Rosenblat. She is most amazing and has narrated most of the others. This just doesn't have the same magic. THIS audiobook has a mixed cast... and they're not very good(I am biased though), so DON'T buy it unless you LOVE the sample.

disappointing audio

Love Mrs. Pollifax stories, but this audio rendition is terrible. I wish the narrator (who was just fine) could have read the book himself without the programmers inserting a hollow, unnatural woman's voice as Mrs. Pollifax.

Disappointing narration

Multiple narrators took away from the story.

I enjoy a single narrator. Wonder why they chose to do the narration this way?

Different narrators-horrible!

Unlike the first few books in the series, this book is read by several different narrators. Different can be good but in his instance, it ruined the entire Audible experience. I really disliked the voices for Carstairs and Mrs. Pollifax and cringed every time they "spoke". I haven't looked at the rest of the books in the series but if they have this type of narration then I won't be listening again.

Mrs.Pollifax Goes Everywhere!

Mrs. P's latest adventure is a kaleidiscope of adventures so out of the ordinary, they almost become a distraction-almost. Veryentertaining for a long drive.

Good story, awful performance

I love the Pollifax books and this story did not disappoint. But the voices and the acting are beyond bad! There is no intonation, no life in the lines, those actors sound like they are bored out of their minds! I tried my best to ignore the poor performance and just enjoy the adventure but I struggled through it.
