Publisher's Summary

Mrs Dalloway (published on 14 May 1925) is a novel by Virginia Woolf that details a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway in post-World War I England.

Mrs Dalloway continues to be one of Woolf's best-known novels. Created from two short stories, Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street and the unfinished The Prime Minister, the novel's story is of Clarissa's preparations for a party of which she is to be hostess. With the interior perspective of the novel, the story travels forwards and back in time, and in and out of the characters' minds, to construct a complete image of Clarissa's life and of the inter-war social structure.

Awful sound.

Thought the performance is very enjoyable, the sound throughout the first part changes dramatically from time to time and makes the recoding a torture to listen to. A pity.

Where's the quality assurance? It sounds terrible

I honestly can't comment on the quality of the story because the recording quality is absolutely horrendous. It very obviously alternates between at least two recording setups. One sounds like it's recorded by putting a microphone up to a phone speaker while the narrator reads the story on the other end of a bad phone connection. The other sounds like the narrator is using the built-in microphone on a webcam from 1997 while sitting in a small, echoey cave.

Too intense.

I am a great admirer of V. W, as she could write like anyone else. This is also true concerning this story, but for me it was too intense, at least for the moment. Maybe some other time.
