Publisher's summary

He's come to kill me.

I'm a user and abuser of my own body. In the darkest hour I sold my soul to the devil and now I must pay the price. With his gun to my head I have no choice but to listen and obey, but I refuse to go down easily. Nothing is stronger than the will to survive. My instincts kicked into full gear the second he stepped into my motel room.

Except when I look at him I see my own heart staring back at me. A history tainted by blood.

I don't know his name, but I know he wants me. To save myself I'll sacrifice my sanity. My body. My soul. Something tells me the x-shaped scar that marks his eye is the only escape I have. He is Mr. X; the man who comes to claim my life. Can I save myself before he demands my heart?

Dark Erotic

This book is a dark erotic bdsm book

Let me say, this is a good book, but I have to say as a warning this is a dark erotic bdsm with more pain and bondage, some will say this is more along the lines of Stockholm syndrome. Sorry, not my kind of book.

Azazel or most know him as Mr X. has a past but is living for the revenge of his future and it all start with one girl. He cannot control the urge to make her bleed, feel the pain and beg for more and she will. He was born and raised to be a hit man, but when his family is hired to watch her family everything changes. She inevitably causes a time line of the creation from Azazel to Mr. X.

Jay has amnesia, she does what she can on the streets to stay alive and if selling her body or working a pole helps get the job done then so be it, besides it's only a body. But when one night a job doesn't go as planned, she has a run in with a past and he is pissed. When the pieces come together, she learns that nothing is what it seems and you can trust no one.

Where does Mr. X rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

My favorite audiobook

What did you like best about this story?

To me this whole story is captivating. I enjoyed reading it and now listening to it again was even better. I think this would be an outstanding movie.

Have you listened to any of Paul Brion’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first audiobook with Paul narrating but I think he did a wonderful job. I enjoyed listening to him read to me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I have never thought of this so as of right now I don't have anything.

Any additional comments?

Mr X is a splendid read. I highly recommend it.

Monsters are Real.

Where does Mr. X rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

First, I've just gotta say... WOW!!!!! Mr X is without a doubt my favorite audio book to date.

What did you like best about this story?

Eroticism at an extremely dark level.
I like the open ending where you can imagine what they each decide what to do.

Have you listened to any of Paul Brion’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I've had the pleasure.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

They made him a monster and left him to die..... soon they will all wish that he did....
Especially Her...........

Any additional comments?

The depravity, cruelty and sadistic abuse throughout this story had me constantly changing my mind about Mr X. He is decidedly dark, dangerous and wicked but oh my God he is so freaking delicious and decadent......

Dark Gritty Raw and Sinister

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes Because the Story Was Amazing and Left You On the Edge Of Your Seat

What did you like best about this story?

I loved and enjoyed the whole story. the hate turned to love. The game of survival.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

As much as I loved the story itself I did not connect with the narrator for this book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had a torrential ride full of raw emotions

Any additional comments?

What a deliciously dark read. WOW I was captivated by the story. Not your typical dark romance but will leaving you turning the pages. Filled with loathing, angst, hatred, and desire. Clarissa Wild will take you for a torrential ride full of raw emotions. I LOVED X and Jay the characters are so well defined. The world created is dark and sinister but vividly descriptive. I loved every dark and sinister aspect of this novel and though it did not end on a cliff hanger I would love more. Clarissa Wild you have outdone yourself once again this is one you are an author I will continue to one click regardless.

Mr X

What did you love best about Mr. X?

A very dark Hero who goes to any lengths to get his targets.

What did you like best about this story?

Even though you doubt you'll ever understand him and his reasoning, when you realize just how twisted and deep this is SMH it's mindblowing.

Which scene was your favorite?

The epilogue <3

Any additional comments?

Jay finds herself in the middle of danger when what she thought was a simple handjob turns into a murderer kicking in her door. Facing her own death makes her want to live, at any cost.
Is she ready for what mr X is bringing, though?
Twists and surprises, smut and suspense in a (very) dark romance with an ever darker Hero.
Listened to the audio version, in this re-read, and the narrator was great and brought another dimension to the story. Loved it!

Dark S/M and Little Confusing in the Beginning

Would you listen to Mr. X again? Why?

4.5 Stars - It was a good dark read, but not SO good that I'd listen to it more than once. It's credit worthy. It was confusing at first. The book is similar to "King" by T.M. Frazier; it has the same plot. Girl wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the abuse from her dad who's campaigning for governor. For those who have read the book "King" the only difference is the hero / lover is a hit man instead of a biker & the heroine' s abuser is her father instead of an ex boyfriend. Overall it's still a good read.

Any additional comments?

This is a dark S/M read (Not as dark as Pepper Winters books) but you'll need to listen to it with an open mind. Could be offensive to those who are sensitive to sadism & degradation.

Love for Mr. X!

If you could sum up Mr. X in three words, what would they be?

Fierce, Hot Hitman

Any additional comments?

This is another winner by author Clarissa Wild. I love her books! Mr. X is intimidating and no-nonsense, yet you can't help but see something good in him. He'd scare the living daylights out of me!

Great story!

Would you consider the audio edition of Mr. X to be better than the print version?

Mr. X is an amazing story and though I enjoyed the audio I didn't feel Paul Brion's narration did it justice.

What did you like best about this story?

Clarissa Wild enjoys making me crazy with her stories. At some point I always scream at her books in disbelief. The shock and wow factor of this book was probably my favorite thing. It is dark and gritty, no holds barred and I loved it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Paul Brion’s performances?

Yes I would. Just because I don't think he did Mr. X justice doesn't mean I wouldn't try another one of his books. He has a good voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me scream in disbelief and nearly hyperventilate. I was either holding my breath during most of the book since it was Mr. X and Jay's interactions or getting impatient because I want to know everything about them NOW.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely loved this book. It evoked strong emotions and big responses from me. Mr X was not a hero by any means yet I couldn't help but want more of him. He was dark and a bit insane from what happened to him. He was such a strong and dynamic character that sticks to a reader for days afterwards. Jay was one of those characters that I wasn't sure how I felt about until the end of the book. She was luckily a strong person because no one else could have taken on Mr. X. I highly recommend this book to any who love a great dark erotic that tests boundaries and pushes limits.
