Publisher's Summary

During the mid-1980s, Howard Marks had 43 aliases, 89 phone lines, and owned 25 companies throughout the world. Whether bars, recording studios, or offshore banks, all were money-laundering vehicles serving his core activity: dope dealing.

Marks began to deal small amounts of hashish while doing a postgraduate philosophy course at Oxford, and soon he was moving much larger quantities into Europe and into America. The academic life began to lose its allure. At the height of his career, he was smuggling consignments of up to 50 tons from Pakistan and Thailand to America and Canada and had contact with organisations as diverse as MI6, the CIA, the IRA, and the Mafia. Numerous newspaper profiles, books, and television documentaries have been devoted to Howard Mark's life. Touched with humour, charm, and candour, Mr Nice is his own extraordinary story.

Most of the book missing

Bit of a con. I read the book years ago and I thought I'd try it again but this is a fraction of what is in the book

Abridged version

Great story and told brilliantly. However this is not the entire book which is a shame.

Arbidged

A great story but an abridged version of the actual book. Still a great listen having Mr Nice himself narrating the tale. Would recommend.

A truly outstanding story

This guy had a life most people only dream of, I’m sure that he would do things differently given another go.

Ace! Would recommend to all

Very, very interesting. Love the way that it is narrated by Howard Marks himself, normally I find audiobooks a bit too long.. but I actually wished this was longer ! the only slight criticism I have is the boggling amount of people's names Howard mentions, it can be a little bit hard to keep up with (even though it doesn't impede the story !)

A lot of the original book has been missed.

I have read the book but thought i'd indulge myself again but was disappointed that a lot of the book had been skipped over..... BUT..... Mark's delivery makes up for it!

Abridged version is waaaaay to short

Feels very rushed. Clearly a fascinating true story but characters introduced so quickly and glossed over it's hard to keep up.

Lots of key details about the smuggling and convictions remain unclear because of the concise nature of the way this is presented.
