Rock City Renegades book 1

There is nothing as great as a C.L. Rose football romance. I'm so glad she started a new football romance series. Even though her baseball series was pretty epic. This is the first book in the series, and even though I have read books 2 & 3, I accidentally skipped over the 1st one. So I'm back tracking and luckily it came out on audiobook. 2 birds 1 stone.

Narrators Avery Caris and Tristan Josiah came out swinging with this book. They both did such a fantastic job. I've listened to Avery Caris narrate before and she does such an outstanding job reading these books. This was the first time I've listened to Tristan Josiah, and he was really pleasant to listen to. The only complaint I have is that he doesn't sound like a 25 year old. He sounds like an older mature man. Besides that, it was perfect!

Maddox Dane, also known as Mr. Irrelevant in the NFL due to riding the bench his whole professional career as a backup quarterback has finally been called up to play and lead the team.

He's in a new city, on a new team that just started up, an expansion team. The starting quarterback, Austin Baker, just got a career ending injury on the field. Maddox doesn't want to let his new team down, but he's never played in the NFL. The last time he did play was in college.

Livvy Grant, the Rock City Renegades team owners oldest daughter has always wanted to coach football just like her father did while she was growing up. No one has ever taken her seriously nor given her a chance as a football coach because she's a woman.

Thinking it's just not in the cards for her, she's excepted her new roll in life. She the person that will run the new professional football team one day when her father decides he's done.

Let's just say it's not starting off well for Maddox on the field. He pretty much stinks and Livvy sees what he is doing wrong and is determined to help him fix his game. She works with him pretty much every night during the week, giving him the day before his games off. Every night at midnight, they are sneaking (breaking) into the practice field, or meeting up at his place to watch game tape.

She has really started to help Maddox, and that is turning into wins. The thing is, they are fighting their attraction to one another. The more time they spend together, the harder it is to keep their hands off one another.

When Livvy let's it slip one drunken night that she has a spicy, kinky list of things she'd like to try, Maddox jumps at wanting to help her mark things off.

Her ex, also a pro football player for another team really made Liv feel like she was to loud and too much. He didn't want to give her things she wanted or craved. Maddox wants to show her that she's perfect and will give her whatever she wants.

Friends with benefits never ends up going well for those involved, in the book world at least. What happens when one of them develops feelings for the other? They can't be a couple because of who they are to one another. All types of flags on the play.
Then, when her ex starts knocking and causing problems, what will happen? Should they stop everything before they get caught, or fight for what they want?

The only thing I wish I knew was why Maddox calls Livvy, "Dimes." It never elaborated on why he calls her that. The only thing that comes to my mind is that maybe he thinks she a dime piece 🤷‍♀️ I mean, I understand why she calls him, "Mad Dog."

This is such an amazing book! A great start to this series and I can't wait for the rest of this series to come out on audiobook. I can always count on this author bringing her knowledge of the sport in every book, that it will be an amazing story you'll be hooked to by the end of chapter 1, and that she is the Queen of Spice!! I say this about every book C.L. Rose writes. She brings the spice like no other author, and it's always different kinks and super spicy!!

The Grant family is amazing, and so is the part of the team that we get introduced to. A real sense of found family in this authors books. She amazing at writing that trope. Emmett's book is next and it's just a yummy!
