Publisher's summary

Robert B. Sherman has forged a phenomenal career as a songwriter, screenwriter and painter. Along with his brother, Richard, he is responsible for the iconic scores of Mary Poppins, Jungle Book, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Charlotte's Web and The Tigger Movie, to name just a few. But to fully appreciate the impact of his songs, one has to get to know the man behind them first. Finally, in his own words and inimitable writing style, comes his long awaited, definitive autobiography: Moose, the delightful and unconventional story of a creative giant who changed the fabric of the family musical forever.

Great stories

To anyone interested in the life and experiences of Robert Sherman, this is a good read (or listen). In this book you will find many short stories (50- something, I believe) that dive into Sherman's life. If you are interested in this book because (like myself) you are a diehard Walt fan, you will hear some stories about Disney, but not many in comparison to how long the audio-book is. If you are a huge Poppins fan, this book could be worth the purchase because Sherman does tend to talk heavily about Mary Poppins toward the second half of the book. Be warned that this book is full of many sad stories. Stories of war, death and loss are not in short supply. Overall, I gave this book 5 stars. It kept me engaged, offered stories that made me sad, but also offered stories that made me smile. It made me feel as though I got to know the quiet Sherman brother. I almost took off 1 star because it's mentioned early on, that the physical book comes with many pictures, that audio-books just don't offer. I didn't want to take off a whole star for this, just want to let people know.

Also, to anyone who has read Walt's Time... that book does get mentioned in the end of this book, with some continuation.

Beautiful...just Beautiful.

This was such a wonderful book, I was glued to every word of every chapter. I wish I had known the life of the man whose lyrics I have enjoyed for so many years. His gifts of creativity are to the soul what a bright rainbow is to the eyes...pure joy. Thank you so much for sharing your story and for all the beautiful music you have shared. I believe there is a special place in heaven for someone with such a God-given talent, perhaps you will one day write music for choirs of Angels. “I will sing of your love and justice; to you, Lord, I will sing praise.”

Stanger and more fanciful than fictiom

just one chapter is enough to fulfill a lifetime of accomplishments. an amazing omage to an incredible artist that gives a glimps into the horrors of war, the love of family, and the wonder of the early years of Disney.

Piecemeal and disjointed

I tried to listen to it but it made no sense. I couldn’t get more than 2 hours into it. Would not recommend it.

After seeing the Disney Biography video about the two Sherman brothers, I thought I would enjoy reading about the details!!

Very disappointing!! This book, was not at all, what I thought it would be: Language ?!?!? And many other reasons, even after giving it a chance with a few chapters!!!!
