Publisher's summary

I’m not like those other freaks. The kids who can look inside your head and bring your nightmares to life. The weirdos who can steal your luck or make a thing true just by wishing it. The outliers born from the mess that followed Armageddon.

The ones you call Moonflowers, half mockingly and half afraid. They’re the mistakes that humanity hates - and needs.

I’m not like them. I’m worse. And I’m the only thing standing between you and the legions of heaven and hell. (Petal - The Armageddon-Lite Archives)

Witty original story

I ended the unique wit in the story. It is a fresh story about angles and demons living in New York.

A Fun Ride

A fun and entertaining look at the world post heavenly war. The twists are just twisted enough to be both sad and laugh out loud funny. The narrator does an excellent job of capturing the characters and East Coast voices with angelic and demonic flavorings. Well done!

A highly enjoyable diversion

This was an interesting story set in an interesting world. I hope there is more of this story to come. The narration was delightful and really kept me engaged. I look forward to more from both the author and narrator!

Shadowrun meets Lucifer Well done.

This was very good. I received this book for free to review, and frankly I didn’t expect much. I knew the narration would be good, but I wasn’t sure about the subject. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. The characters are well played, and the story wasn’t obvious at all. In fact I was a little worried that it didn’t have much in the way of story and then you realize it was building. The beginning your introduced to the world and the characters, but by the end, I really wanted more. I will be buying book 2 when it comes out.

*love*

This book is so much fun! It's narrated with such wry wit that I can't stop listening. The storytelling style feels a bit like the dresden files blended with Jig Dragonslayer. The narrator does a sublime job of giving the characters just the right dose of humanity or inhumanity to bring them to life. I can't wait to see what happens. I'm so glad i downloaded this book!

Such a fun listen

Very interesting and fun premise for a story. I listened to this book twice back to back because it was so entertaining. The narration is great. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series and hope it comes out soon! I don't want to give anything away because learning about the characters is part of the fun. If you enjoy a good smart a$$ that often forgets he should keep his big mouth shut, you will love Petal.

Imagination beyond!

I'll never look at Red Hook, Governors Island or The Financial District in the same way again and I now want to retrace Petal's steps and reimagine his version of them. The scene is set with so much detail and the explanations you need for what is going on come just when you need them. I love that our hero isn't the usual moralistic tough guy and is self-deprecating with a twisted sense of humor. I want the prequel and the sequel...NOW!

Great book!

This light take on a supernatural police unit is great. The accents in the narration and how it develops the characters makes this a joy to listen to.

A fun romp

Told in a style partially reminiscent of a radio show/podcast, partially as a snark diary from the point of view of the main character. The narrator (Ian M. Hawkins) brings the characters to life - providing the proper amount of snark for a main character like this. Hawkins kept the story engaging and before I knew it I had finished this title within 2 days (honestly within about 24 hours), despite not normally listening to audiobooks.

Overall I enjoyed this audiobook greatly. I found it satisfying and engaging to listen to. The writing kept the book moving along, and while I have some minor issues (sigh... why does the appearance of <insert female characters here> matter at certain points.... It's not like the MC is critiquing how alluring his male counterparts look in the midst of battle/intrigue, don't you have better things to think about, even in passing, Petal? Sure is nice to be reminded that *checks notes* all the female side characters are attractive. I might have forgotten otherwise) I would be interested to see where the next volume takes Petal.
