Publisher's summary

Samantha Moon loses everything - her kids, her beloved, the very unlife she knows - when a powerful curse catapults her backwards in time, to Louisiana during the days of Marie Laveau.

Though she pines for the familiar world of the present, Samantha must move fast - the superhuman vampiric abilities she relied on in prior cases have been compromised by the curse, leaving her vulnerable to a new kind of lurking evil.

Now, her talents as a private investigator will be ever more critical. Can Samantha Moon unlock the key to the past and return to her present, or will she forever remain ancient history?

Good story

Would you listen to Moon Bayou again? Why?

no, the narration was horrible. if I had known I would never paid extra for it.

Any additional comments?

as a Samantha Moon Lover, I was really... really disappointed by the narration. ruined the book for me. Please go back to original narrator she was really good.

A fast fun time

I REALLY enjoyed this! I'm from North Louisiana so I'm often wary of Southern tales. I'm not big on Vampires either. I DO LOVE time travel books. With an open mind I got to read this book. I'm glad I did. I will not eagerly devour the rest in this series.
The narrator took a while to get use to. Tone was nice but inflection & odd pauses were sometimes a strange.

Great story ; poor narration

I loved this storyline. Excellent. However, the narration was painful. It sounded computer vocalize with emphases on the wrong words and phrases. Very stilted..

Very poor narration

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would have someone else do the narration. She was stiff and more than a few times I thought about reading the book instead of listening to the audio book.
The story was very interesting.

What did you like best about this story?

It was definitely an interesting vampire story.

What didn’t you like about Kathy Vogel’s performance?

She was stiff and halting. She would break at places that should have flowed.

Could you see Moon Bayou being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I think it has the possibility of being a tv series. Can't think of anyone in particular for the stars.

probably a better read than listen

I enjoyed this story even though I'm not so much into vampires. However the narrator sounded like an automaton and therefore seriously detracted from the story.

Story is amazing - the delivery not so much

I positively love the Vampire for hire series. The presentation of this book however, made it difficult to finish. It reminded me of a 4th or 5th grader reading out loud in class. Very choppy, and little expression.

Narrator ruined the story!

The story was interesting enough to keep me listening despite the horrible narration. I seriously checked to make sure a human was reading the story. I thought maybe my phone had changed to Text-to-Speech, as I was listening in between reading on my Kindle. The narrator spoke in bursts of 2-3 words instead of full sentences most of the time, and she did not bring any sense of different character voices or emotions. Even though the book was good, I'm not compelled to go get the next one in the series. I am giving the story itself 4 stars because I thought it ended rather abruptly.
