When reports of Indian thievery begin, K.C. enlists Red Charlie as her deputy, even traveling with him to the nearest reservation and taking needed supplies for the starving people. The two of them settle into a comfortable working relationship. K.C. doesn’t know what to do with the womanly emotions of love she grows to feel for her deputy, and Red Charlie believes a relationship with an Indian will only bring trouble to the woman he admires. Then a marauding gang takes over the town, and danger threatens everything they love.

When a gang robs the town bank and steals the money for a new church they kill a deputy. Now they risk the dangers of the hunt to trace and arrest the killers. Growing more attracted to each other over the years of working together they both protect each other. A marvelous performance and series. Recommend

A little of everything I love!

Such a great storyline even my 10 yr old boy enjoyed listening to it in the car.

Wonderful!

I wish I could give this more stars. It was filled with adventure, obligations, and love. I was happy to hear the story of K C, the female sheriff and the blacksmith Native American and sometimes deputy Red Wolf. Lara’s narration of it was perfect!

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Beautiful love story develops in the midst of drama. Ms. Holland is a great story teller.

This was a great story and it was fun to be reacquainted with and remember old friends from the other books in this series! Little Walter stole my heart and I loved Seth’s recounting of his choice of bride! KC is a remarkable and strong woman and Chogan is the perfect compliment to her personality, but how can it work that a white woman could be with an Indian man? Debra creates a town, situation, and family where anything is possible!
As always Lara is the perfect narrator for this series! She easily pronounces the Blackfoot language, gently rolls out the Scottish brogue, distinguishes between the men, women, and children, and keeps the story intriguing! I love her cadence as well.

Debra offered me a copy of this audiobook! I have enjoyed many others in this series and my reviews are always 100% my own opinions!
