Montana Dawn - Book One in The McCutcheon Family Series

2010 Maggie Finalist, 2010 Gayle Wilson Finalist , RWA Golden Heart Finalist

Montana Territory, August 1883

When Luke McCutcheon finds Faith Brown about to give birth in her rickety wagon, his first instincts are to ride for help. Instead, he stays and delivers a beautiful baby girl. Unable to leave the pretty young widow and her little son and newborn unprotected in the Montana wilderness, he brings them along on his family's cattle drive, to the absolute delight of the other friendly cowboys.

Luke, third son of Montana's wealthy McCutcheon family, is different from his brothers. As the offspring of a Cheyenne warrior, he carries a chip on his shoulder for all to see. His flashing eyes and handsome face make Faith feel she's stepped into some long-ago tale where men cherish their women--and keep them safe. If only she could trust him! Faith is on the run, and although she's pampered and protected by Luke and his family, she just can't risk the consequences of sharing the details of her past--one that's hunting to take her back to the nightmare she's just escaped. Happy-ever-afters are for fairytales, she reminds herself sternly as her heart feels the warm pull of his. Still, she can't help but dream of a loving family, a home to call her own, a beautiful and bright...Montana Dawn.

Very Fascinating read of the old west...

I received this audio book in exchange for a honest and unbiased review. I love this book. I love old westerns as it is and read several other mail order brides of the west books which tie into this with the family name and towns.

This book was great. I loved learning about Luke and his family and how Luke became to be. Read along as they find a woman and add her to their group. Faith is a refreshing and sometimes aggravating woman, but she has her reasons! I especially loved her Aunt Penelope... You have to read the book to understand that statement! hahaha

The author. Caroline Fyffe did a fantastic job writing this book. The way of the west, how things were handled back then and the research it takes to do this kind of book. I always feel so grateful for how our lives are now every time I read an Old West book! Thank God life isn't that way now!!! The narrator, Corey M Snow did a really good job delivering this story flawlessly. I really liked the voice he used for Luke. I loved Luke's family!

Good clean romance

I usually like my romance steamier but this was a really sweet romance. Sometimes the dialog can get a little hokey when authors try to keep it so clean but this author did a nice job of using the right words to make it seem authentic. I recommend.

Weak heroin. Foul language

There were many things about the story that I enjoyed. I enjoyed the McCutcheon family with their strong faith and strong morals. However , the heroine was pictured as a weak female who lived in fear and could never tell the truth and could not stand up to her abuser. Probably the one thing that I did not enjoy the most was the foul language and continual cussing by every male character throughout the book.

love over comes,

Where does Montana Dawn (McCutcheon Family Series - Book 1) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Loved the narration! Each narrator has a different style. I put the speed at 2.

What other book might you compare Montana Dawn (McCutcheon Family Series - Book 1) to and why?

The Redbournes. It's very family orriented, close knit but each family member stands out. Luke tries to be tough, but once he gazes at Faith he slowly melts. Normally only his family sees this side. Faith loves Luke but tries to save her children but her soul yearns for Luke.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Luke hears Faith crying he quietly goes into her room, she's sobbing into her pillow,he gently kisses her and holds her.He feels a connection so great it seems to pull him. He knows that Faith is holding back, but he can't stop himself. She very fragile,he just holds her.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Luke's salvation! Over commuting his past, being comfortable in his skin. Learning real love does exist, even for someone like him a half breed.

Any additional comments?

Very descriptive! I envisioned in my mind each setting. The tall grass, the trees, dust, foaming water!

Good clean book!!

Very good story. The narration isn't the best I've heard, but it's hard for a man to do a woman's voice and there are a lot of those parts. All n all I want them all!!
Highly recommend. Good story, clean and keeps me coming back.

Where does Montana Dawn rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 10

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that the sons were named Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

This was so touching:

"I don't know why things like this happen. It's a mystery. Sometimes they just do, and there's no telling why. But I'm sure of one thing: God didn't do it to punish you. He would never do that. Why, I bet he feels just as bad about it as you do."

What does Corey M. Snow bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Corey M Snow really gave Luke life.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely love Luke's wedding present to his new bride!
