Publisher's summary

After years of self-imposed exile, Christy McCauley returns to West Virginia, only to discover that her idyllic birthplace has become the hunting grounds for a savage beast stalking the hollows of rural Augusta County beneath the light of the full moon. Authorities are baffled as the unknown creature grows ever bolder and the slaughter, more horrific. When Christy finds herself caught in the path of the beast’s rampage, she is faced with a terrifying choice: flee her home to save her own life, or stand her ground and with the help of her friends, hunt down the predator, and destroy it before it kills again.

Entertaining but a little predictable

If you’ve ever seen a late 90s, early 2000s monster film/ x-files than this definitely fits in that genre. Enjoyable brain candy with somewhat interesting characters. Fun monster characteristics. Definitely worth a try if you like monster mysteries. Somewhat predictable though.

Excellent werewolf story

It starts a little slow, but that's to build characters you want to invest in. After that, the ride is a thrilling and terrifying one. This would make a great movie.

Scary!

An old-fashioned werewolf tale. Had me peering into my shadowy backyard! It was creepy!

Finally!! A true horror book!

Seriously, I love horror and am usually left disappointed after listening to a titled horror genre novel. This audio book has all the right moves, narrator, characters, intense scenes, and leaves you breathless!! I'm so glad to have found this true remarkable fiction

very fun!

there were several plot holes in the story. like why would they fight on the monsters turf when they could have lured it somewhere to kill it? but other than that, it was very entertaining. I liked Graham as a character. he was funny.

pleasantly surprised

if you are looking for a book that feels like a horror movie instead of an action movie this is it. Some werewolf books feel too much like underworld with explosions and the pack and stuff. This reminded me of silver bullet or bad moon. a good body count. Lots of creepy in it. You know the werewolf about halfway through but the character is fleshed out well enough you feel different emotions about it through the book. there's lots of attention to detail like what they intend to do about the body if they in fact kill it. I highly recommend this one if you want a good ol fashioned 90's/2000's werewolf tale.

If you need back ground noise to sleep....

I am not yet sure I wasted a credit on this one.
The jury is still out.

Good Story, Questionable Choice of Narrator

This was a good werewolf tale—intense, with relatable characters. I think I might buy it as a hard copy or on Kindle.
The narrator was sub-par and distracted my attention throughout. The words “wearily” and “warily” were pronounced the same through most of the book. I’d begin to wonder whether the author was at fault, then the narrator proved it was her own doing by pronouncing them appropriately when they were used in consecutive sentences.

As I said, this was a good story with a poor narrator.
