Publisher's Summary

After years of self-imposed exile, Christy McCauley returns to West Virginia, only to discover that her idyllic birthplace has become the hunting grounds for a savage beast stalking the hollows of rural Augusta County beneath the light of the full moon. Authorities are baffled as the unknown creature grows ever bolder and the slaughter, more horrific. When Christy finds herself caught in the path of the beast’s rampage, she is faced with a terrifying choice: flee her home to save her own life, or stand her ground and with the help of her friends, hunt down the predator, and destroy it before it kills again.

Excellent werewolf story

It starts a little slow, but that's to build characters you want to invest in. After that, the ride is a thrilling and terrifying one. This would make a great movie.

Fantastic story 👏

If you love a good story about werewolves, don't pass this one up. The characters are realistic and believable, and the narrator brings them all to life with her great voice. I was sad when the story ended, but happy with how it ended. I highly enjoyed and recommend 👌

Horror, Mystery all rolled into one - gripping!

Christy McCauley returns home to West Virginia after her grandmother passes away leaving the family home and everything to Christy. Claiming the family estate which is buried deep in the woods of rural August County and houses some of her fondest memories slowly becomes a nightmare. Something is hunting in the area, something big and scary with a vicious and deadly nature. Christy must decide to stay and fight or flee.

The author McCarty Griffin weaves a preternatural story complete with a horrific monster and a town that has just begun to piece the puzzle together of a murderer on a rampage. The personalities of each character shine through and are vividly described. The action is realistic and detailed allowing the listener to slowly piece the story together only to be given new information via a plot twist.

The narrator, Sharon Huff delivers a performance that is clear and well done. Her voice for each character is vivid and consistent throughout the story. She kept up with the action and kept the story moving forward at a steady and quick pace. Huff keeps the audience engaged and attentive.

From beginning to end, the story is gripping and terrifying at times. What and who the monster winds up being are not entirely expected. Anyone who loves horror and mystery will enjoy this book.

There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook. It was well done.

Another to add to my favorites. You like monsters and characters fumbling and bumbling, when it shows up? Then you find yourself rooting for the characters to live even though some are irritating? Get this tale of a monster. I am definitely going to listen to this one again.

Really caught my attention

Although a good story, it Prompts me to think about amateur monster hunters chasing a skilled predator.
