Critic reviews

"If your stereotypical image of an author of finance books is anything like mine then we are thinking male, late-middle age and slightly dour. Think again. Janet Xuccoa is fresh faced, female and attractive. In fact the cover of this audio-book could be mistaken for a Harold Robbins best-seller. The freshness flows through the audio which delivers nothing too raunchy (unless money synonyms get you excited) but an easy-to-listen to, logically laid out freshman's guide to the world of money. Just like the 3Rs financial skills need to be learned and if children do not acquire this education from their school or family then their only option is to educate themselves. The audio tells you how to analyse your own money personality and take control of your financial outcomes. It covers budgeting, managing your financial affairs (including loans and credit cards), types of investments and the importance of insurance. That is all standard fare in an audio of this genre but Janet has gone one step further and included chapters on money and relationships, parenting and money, relationship breakups and money. There is also a chapter entitled 'Dying Tidily' which stresses the importance of having your affairs in order so the people you care about are not left with your problems to sort out should you suffer an untimely demise. Purchasing a house is the largest financial transaction most people ever make and Janet devotes a large part of the audio to talking about home ownership and property investment. Understanding what mortgages are, how they work and the different options available with their advantages and disadvantages is crucial for ensuring home ownership delivers on the dream rather than being a burden that crushes the ill-prepared." "Janet Xuccoa BCom LLB is the Trustee Services Director at Gilligan Rowe + Associates. She is also an author who is skilled at making financial matters easy to understand. In Money Secrets 101 she explains how we can improve our personal financial management and how we can install such money secrets to the younger people we care about. The main thing that makes Janet's work stand out is it is not based on pushing the taxation law to its limits but rather rational, considered and pragmatic thinking that looks at how you like to spend, your strengths and where you need to get expert advice. By listening to this audiobook you will get a clearer understanding of these aspects of your life so you can manage, save and invest your money in a way that allows you to lead a good life." (Liam Butler)
