This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.

When you’re a scapegoat in a cruel and abusive household, the scapegoating doesn’t end when you turn 18. Author Dani Donnelly is just now finding this out at age 50 (Yes, FIFTY), and she’s about to tell the world through her memoirs how pervasively damaging an abusive home can be. Her own mother, a.k.a. her lifelong narcissistic abuser, has other plans: She is taking wild and unthinkable steps to put a halt to the completion of Dani’s book.

This novel is a chilling tale of survival.

the story was great and not easily predicted, which I always enjoy! Although this was the best AI narration I have listened to, it still missed the emotions needed to keep you wrapped up in the story!

great book, wish it had a real voice behind it

Enjoyed the story. The AI narration was quite disconcerting to the point that it pulled me out of the story several times with random numbers being inserted in random places. The AI voice was rather calming, but the listen would have been 1000 times better with an actual human voice narrating

Great story

this is a book that you can listen for 20 hours ... it is that well written. the narration is horrible. it is a disservice done to put it like this.
besides the monotony of the voice, with innapropriate expressiveness in the story, the quality is very bad: there are breaks where there shouldn't be, and no breaks where they should.
please do not do this to the books. please rerecord them. the naration really takes away from them.

the book is great, the narration ruined it

Very well written. Held my attention. Can’t wait to listen to another one of her books.

Intriguing

I think it was an excellent story, and I understand the financial reasons for narrating with AI. It is a little hard to get used to the sound of the narration and for some people I suppose it would be difficult to ignore certain mistakes, but overall pretty impressive and I look forward to a time when this author is able to have this read in a human voice. I hope more people give the book a chance so that’s an opportunity.

Great story, especially as an introduction to Trauma
