Professor Professor Robert A. Shutt
Acerca de esta escucha
In On Your Best Behavior: The Fundamentals of Etiquette, Professor Robert A. Shutt reviews the fundamentals of appropriate behavior practiced in the course of life. Everyday etiquette is essentially social etiquette, which has evolved to meet the needs of this century. Professor Shutt examines the historical roots of social etiquette and explains how its foundations remain relevant today - even as situations and circumstances change. All told, this program provides listeners with a solid understanding of the standards of good behavior that lead to success in everyday life. As Professor Shutt emphasizes, "manners matter and courtesy counts" always. It is that simple!

Common sense
To me it was common sense, but to many, this could be a lot of new things people were not taught growing up.

Don't get discouraged by other reviews
I don't usually write reviews but this book is an exception. It is actually a good book full of tips about the right way to handle yourself around people. Some content is common sense but is really well written and demonstrated. I liked section about wedding etiquette and planning and found it very beneficial.

Not worth the time to download.
Performance and substance were very disappointing. Not a worthwhile download if you are looking for a good modern scholar book.

Very informal etiquette info
This is not what I had hoped it would be. Very basic, everyday, not formal dinner etiquette etc.

A long list of disjointed rules. Very basic.
What disappointed you about Modern Scholar: On Your Best Behavior?
Two things: one, it's extremely basic -- it's like etiquette for cavemen. You'll hear pearls like "don't touch a pregnant woman's stomach" and "it's okay to open the door for a pregnant woman without asking her for permission." Two, worst of all, there are no _principles_ given, it's merely a list of disjointed "things one should do". There is nothing in the way of "it's your duty to maintain the good mood of your guests, even if you are in severe discomfort yourself, because of reasons x, y and z". For a $40 (!) "book", this is just ridiculous.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something else on etiquette, specifically in business.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I think it's the author reading. He's ok, but not professional.
