Publisher's summary

Beth Riley wasn't looking for commitment.

She thought a hot no-strings-attached vacation fling would help her forget her latest dating disaster, and the sexy guy she'd meet on the plane seemed like a perfect candidate. But Matt wasn't what she expected.

Matt Carver wasn't looking for a girlfriend.

But he needed one, at least for the rest of his vacation. Luckily he knew the perfect woman for the role: The adventurous beauty who'd already rescued him once. He just hoped she'd agree.

The whole ruse was supposed to be harmless, but things got out of hand when their fake kisses sparked a real passion.

Note: This book features plenty of panty-melting sex! Not for the timid!

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Modern Girl's Guide To Vacation Flings to be better than the print version?

I bet it is....

What was one of the most memorable moments of Modern Girl's Guide To Vacation Flings?

When Beth shows up at Matt's Apartment near the end...and the ending was perfect!

Which character – as performed by Lynn Barrington – was your favorite?

Beth...100%

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was!!!

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

Beth is a carefree, semi heart broke independent woman on a getaway to get her mind straight... Mat is a busy guy, very successful and on a family vacation he really is not into....there worlds collide by accident and there is an instant attraction...they make friendly conversation on the plane trip to Florida to meet the boat for there cruise...and then run into each other quite unexpectedly and very welcomed on the boat...Matt asks Beth to pretend to be his girlfriend so his mom will quit playing match maker...and she semi agrees thinking this might be fun and a great escape for her and maybe she might get little action out of the deal...well things go further than they both expect...and maybe, just maybe this could be more than ether one of them ever expected!!

VERY GOOD STORY WITH WONDERFUL NARRATION! I RECOMMEND!!!

So Wrong With My First Impression-SO GOOD!

I was so wrong with my impression of this book. I expected that each chapter would be a fling from a different woman and her advice on how she handled it. It was nothing of the sort.

This is the story of Beth who decides to take a cruise because her sister is getting ready to marry Beth's ex-boyfriend. She needs a break from the wedding plans and doesn't want to be the downer during a time when her sister is the happiest.

Matt is on the same cruise with his family, a rare occasion that they are all together. If he hadn't accepted, his mother would never forgiven him. He wouldn't be able to live with the guilt, etc. etc. (not in an emasculated way, but in a way that is sweet as he is putting aside his wishes for his mothers, just this one time.)

Matt and Beth meet up and decide that they can use each other in a way that will be beneficial to both of them. For Matt, he can deal with his mother, who is continually trying to play matchmaker, Beth is willing to play his girlfriend at mealtimes or any of the special events planned for the entire family.

Beth, didn't really think through the impulse of a couple weeks vacation cruise all alone. So Matt agrees to hang out with her whenever she feels she needs a pal.

Of course these things can never be so simple…

This was an extremely well-written book with everything a listener could possibly want; humor, romance, the push and pull of a mutual attraction, dealing with crazy family members that you don't know, and what to do when the cruise is over with…

Lynn Barrington has moved up to one of my two top favorite performers. It is a virtual tie so you can say she's my number one! Lynn chooses the best books to perform and if her name is on it. I want to listen to it. (As long as it's not paranormal/vampire/sci-fi – I don't like that genre) 5 of the easiest stars for this performance. She maneuvered easily between the fighting of Matt & Beth flawlessly, each and every situation and each and every character were unique and identifiable by her performance.

Notes: mature themes and strong language some

This book/author reminds me of some of my favorite authors; Marian Keyes and Sophia Kinsella – she is on my must-have list.

Vacation Fling? Yes I say!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Modern Girl's Guide To Vacation Flings?

When Matt came to the realization that Beth truly meant what she said about their relationship.

Which scene was your favorite?

The hotel scene in Vegas ... Loved the play between Beth and Matt.

Any additional comments?

Modern Girls Guide to Vacation Flings by Gina Drayer is what I would classify as a great beach read. Always a nervous flier, Beth meets Matt on a plane taking her away for a 2 week vacation. Not knowing they are the same cruise, Beth and Matt exchange numbers and talk about meeting up back in Chicago some time. Later on the ship, Matt sees Beth and hopes that she will help him out with his family. It seems that Matt could use a temporary girlfriend to appease his family and Beth might interested in a vacation fling herself.

Over the course of the next 2 weeks, Beth and Matt spend time together with his family and alone with each other. Beth is content on making this last just the 2 weeks of the cruise but Matt may have other ideas. Will they be able to work out their differences in the relationship and come to an understanding? You will have to listen to the book to find out.

Ms. Drayer has written a well thought out book that lays out the 'perfect' fling that could become something more. As always, Ms. Barrington is perfect for this book. She gives each character their own voice and truly draws you into the story. I didn't want the story to end.

(I don't see it here on Audible but there is book 2 in this series with one of Matt's business partners as the male lead. Ms. Drayer and Ms. Barrington provide us with a brief preview of the book. I can't wait for it to come out!)

Fun at Sea

I really enjoyed the book for the most part. It was fun and light and the chemistry was great. My only quibble is that Beth was kind of an awful person at points in the book. I get that her actions didn't come from a mean or malicious place but was due to insecurity and neurosis however she treated Matt so badly at times that I truly could not understand why he kept pursuing her. I guess his little brain was doing the thinking.

Simply a rom-com !

Cute, well narrated, sexy.... a cruise vacation, a ton of baggage, too many relatives and sweet romance.

Beautiful!!

This was the perfect escape from reality that was needed. The narration was amazing and done perfectly. Even the accent was enjoyable instead of silly and out of place. The characters suck you in and the way they were written just makes you want to punch some and be best friends with others.

Vacation Fling

What did you like best about this story?

A fun and quick read, laughing at some situations in the book and, at times, wanting to strangle either Beth/Matt/both for their stubbornness. I found this to be a charming story about how despite the walls we put around our hearts and the path we lay out for ourselves, even the best laid plans don't stand a chance in matters of the heart.

A fun filled adult romance...

I liked this book better than I thought I would. It is a light romantic comedy with some very steamy parts thrown in just for more fun. It is an original story and I was thrilled with the ending. Beth is escaping a bad relationship by taking a cruise. Matt is on the same cruise for a family wedding. Matt meets Beth and begs her to be his pretend girlfriend during the cruise and Beth agrees. The fun takes off from there. I especially enjoyed the epilogue!

This is my first read by this author. The author, Gina Drayer did a great job writing this story. It was fun, sweet and exciting and I read it straight thru in one sitting. The narrator, Lynn Barrington did a fantastic job in her delivery of this story. Complete with multiple voices and accent, the narrator delivered a flawless read filled with emotions too. Good job ladies.

I received this audio book for free so I could read and leave a honest and unbiased review about it.
