Memories of Mister Rogers

I was moved and comforted by this album. Listening to the testimony of ordinary people, strangers, who share one thing in common: special memories of a time when Fred Rogers came into their lives. Whether on his television show, e-mails he answered, or personal encounters, his warmth and kindness had the same effect. It left people feeling better about themselves, more hopeful. And that’s how I felt after getting to the end of this album. I’m ready to listen again!

A Joyous Journey

These tender stories led my heart down a meaningful, life-enhancing path...A joyous journey. Forgive me, but I really did laugh, cry, and it truly became a part of me. My favorite story was the story of Beth, the little girl Mister Rogers visited after her surgery. I also loved the story of the stolen car. Each story is beautifully spoken and they are all woven together with just the right music. I will listen over and over and will recommend it to my friends. It reminded me of all the good in the world and made me want to strive to be more of a Mister Rogers in my own life. Thank you to Dennis Scott and to all who spoke from their hearts. This book is a blessing.

Compelling Tribute

I just finished listening to Mister Rogers Now More Than Ever and I was struck by the fact that Fred Rogers was not just a famous man and not just a popular children’s TV personality, but he was a truly REMARKABLE human being. The depth of his compassion and the genuine beauty of his soul is on display in this wonderful recording which documents individual stories of ordinary people whose lives were significantly impacted, if not radically transformed by his gentle words and, in many cases, his selfless acts of kindness toward them. These stories alone are priceless. Many of the stories included here have never been told on a public scale. The individuals who tell them were the recipients who were personally touched by the tender-heartedness and compassion of this unique man. As I listened, I found myself visualizing the event and being overwhelmed by the unfeigned goodness of a man whose first thoughts were always for others.

There are stories from people who worked with him day in and day out who had nothing but love and the highest respect for him. He was as faithful and consistent in his character as a human can possibly be - and maybe more so. What I came to understand from listening to their stories is that Fred Rogers had a transcendence about him that few men ever possess. His legacy is remarkable, and these stories are only a drop in the bucket compared to the vast ocean of stories the world could tell about how Mr. Rogers imprinted his gentle, calming and encouraging spirit on countless lives of children – even well into their adult years. This peek-behind-the-curtain reveals the true depth of this remarkably gentle gentleman and leaves you wanting to know more.

The audiobook is aptly titled because after listening to it, one can’t help but wish this post-Fred-Rogers world had thousands of people with his character, his empathetic heart for people and his ability to impart peace and beauty into the lives of others. We do need Mister Rogers, Now More Than Ever!

Great stories of the incredible life of Mr. Rogers.

Listening to this audiobook, was a very warm and life affirming experience. Fred Rogers, touched millions of people’s lives, from both his long running TV show, and from his warm and very personable nature. Mr. Rogers, had a real gift for communicating wisdom, kindness, music, and unconditional acceptance to young children’s minds and hearts. Tom Bergeron, does a very fine job as narrator and guide throughout this audiobook, and the heartwarming stories from people of all walks of life, will linger with the listener long after the listening. The background music which runs throughout this program, provides the perfect backdrop for all the fantastic personal stories of how one man’s life can affect so many so profoundly. You will want to hear this audiobook more than once, to relive all of the warm and touching stories of lives changed, and destinies fulfilled. I came away inspired, knowing that one person’s life can make such a significant difference, to so many. Thank you so much, Mr. Rogers.
