Now updated with explosive courtroom details...

The riveting true-crime account of the heartbreaking murder that shook a Southern city to its corrupt foundation

Biloxi, Mississippi: After the fatal shooting of one of the city’s most prominent couples - Vincent Sherry was a circuit court judge; his wife, Margaret, was running for mayor - their grief-stricken daughter came home to uncover the truth behind the crime that shocked a community and to follow leads that police seemed unable or unwilling to pursue. What Lynne Sposito soon discovered were bizarre connections to the Dixie Mafia, a predatory band of criminals who ran The Strip, Biloxi’s beachfront hub of sex, drugs, and sleaze. Armed with a savvy private eye - and a .357 Magnum - Lynne bravely entered a teeming underworld of merciless killers, ruthless con men, and venal politicians in order to bring her parents’ assassins to justice.

Great story

I actually grew up around Biloxi, and remember when the story was in the news. It was interesting to learn more about the history of the place. I grew up in, and some of these names and places were extremely familiar. I have just completed the new book boys from Biloxi by John Grisham, and that led me to listening to this book.

Narrator lacking

The narrator lacks inflection and emotion when reading the story and he mispronounces words and names. Maybe those listening who aren’t from the coast or not familiar with the coast wouldn’t notice but for a local, it was aggravating.

Mississippi Boy

I’ve grown up in Mississippi and have always heard the stories around the murders and the Dixie Mafia. This book was great in learning more about them!

Must read in paperback, narrator is terrible

Amazing story I first heard about when one of the brothers spoke on a call in segment of my local radio station. Mississippi Mud is a *MUST READ* about small town politics and real crime drama. I will not spoil details, but this is a wild ride.

However, the narrator of this particular recording is dreadful and distressingly bad. Sadly, this is a "*MUST READ* (in paperback only)".

Going to download the print edition

The story, as much of it as I got through, had great potential. The narration was so bad I returned the book, only a couple of hours in. The narrator over-enunciated every word, with such odd timing that it was almost like computer speech. The bottom line is, a book set in Biloxi (which he didn't even pronounce right) needs to be narrated by a Mississippi native.

could have been better

interesting story overall, but way too much irrelevant stuff. The book was just long winded.

Killing me

The storyline seems to be very interesting, but I can’t get past the narrators voice.
