Publisher's summary

A bad business deal.

An unfaithful husband.

A hacked computer.

A sick child.

A death - but was it?

Those are the things that take Kat and Blaine to the Caribbean. Some people think it’s a great place for a vacation, but as they quickly find out, it’s not just tropical drinks and sitting in the sun.

If someone wants to get lost in the islands, it can be pretty hard to find them. Good thing there’s a pit bull and a fast speedboat to help.

This is the eighth book in the Midwest Cozy Mystery Series by two-time USA Today best-selling author Dianne Harman.

Wonderful cozy

This is the 9th book in the series and just as good as the others. Kat helps her friend find out what happened to her husband. I loved the in depth descriptions of the islands, I could really picture each scene throughout the book. The narrator does an exceptional job with each voice.

A Lovely Jigsaw Puzzle of the Caribbean

A lady Kat meets at the Tennis Club approaches her with a problem she hopes Kat can help her her with. Her husband seemingly died on an adventurous Wild Rapids trip- but after the funeral she finds an anonymous note which makes her wonder if it was a tragic accident or a planned disappearance.

Kat takes up the challenge which eventually takes Kat, her family, and even a couple of friends to the Caribbean; a wonderful place for vacation, a dangerous place to search.

I called this A Lovely Jigsaw Puzzle, which fairly represents the style of the presentation of Dianne’s dangerous tale. Each chapter is like an individual piece of a picture puzzle; lovely, but you might wonder how it will all fit together. By the end, the picture is very clear- but each piece is needed to understand the final picture. Whether the individual pieces describe a beautiful Island, a likable character (some of whom are only likable at first glance, while others are as lovable as the little girl and her new, goat friend), or the values of family living so central to the book- each piece helps to fill out the final picture.

For clarification. my copy of this title was provided by the author in a promotional, (no strings attached, but hoping for an unbiased review). Since my copy was an Audible copy, I should add that the reader did a good job helping the reader/listener keep the characters straight by use of different voices and inflections.

As others have said, it is refreshing to read a well developed book that treats family life as sacred and doing so in an uplifting manner, while being suspenseful. Enjoyable book, well done- I would definitely invite others to share in the adventure of this Lovely Jigsaw Puzzle.
