Publisher's summary

Mystery masterminds J. S. Donovan, author of Kidnapped: A Small Town Mystery, Roger Hayden, author of The Abducted, and James Hunt, author of Deadly Webs and Stolen, whose stories have collectively accumulated 400+ five-star reviews, come together in this super box set for the first time! That's four book series totaling 12 novels!

Kidnapped: A Small Town Mystery

Renowned Miami detective Anna Dedrick returns to her rural birthplace with hopes of leaving behind the vices of the big city. That dream shatters when the town's pride - an African-American child prodigy - goes missing. As the only woman equipped for the job, Anna takes the case but soon discovers the town suspecting her estranged brother...and herself.

Deadly Webs

When a child goes missing the amount of resources that authorities use is substantial. Abduction cases are taken very seriously by all of the parties involved. None more so than by Chase Grant, a detective in Seattle's 18th precinct. The clock starts the moment he gets the call from a parent, and the first 12 hours are crucial. Every move counts, and every choice matters. If he missteps, then a child might not come home. But today was different. He got a call about a missing child. And then another, and another, and another....

Stolen: A Small Town Abduction

Trust holds a small town together. When times are tough you know you can lean on your neighbor for help. But when a political movement splits the town of Barta, North Dakota, in half, and a young girl goes missing, the trust is broken. Who took Kaley Hayes?

The Abducted

To solve a high-profile abduction, one former police officer must confront a dark past.

A child's abduction leads to a frightening pattern within a South Florida town where nothing is as it seems. Amidst the vast wetlands, suburban sprawl, and tropical heat, the Lee County police department knows what to expect on any given day. But when a serial child predator stakes his claim in the area, there is no knowing when and where he will strike. The parents of the latest victim are baffled to receive no ransom demands, given their wealth and influence. And the town is in an uproar as the girl marks the fifth child to vanish.

Exciting all the way through!

it was exciting all the way through! not a minute without something happening. so good I wished a was one of the characters. Miriam made a lot of moves I would have slapped her for but she was a brave cop. Couldn't put it down. A terrific read.

Miriam is the dumbest detective ever.

I struggled the whole way through, but my stubborn nature and commitment to finish what I start won out. The main character is a law enforcement officer with zero respect for the law. She fails to employ any patience, logic, strategy, or training. It is only by continually getting herself captured that she bumbles her way into finding anyone. If character development and authenticity are important to you, bypass this one.

Terrible

Would you try another book from the authors and/or the narrators?

Every story in this anthology is basically the same. The female protagonists are poorly written and inconsistent. They do the same dumb things over and over yet in other scenes will appear smart with common sense.

Would you ever listen to anything by the authors again?

No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment and frustration

Ridiculous!

I cannot believe they are even selling this here. I don’t want to go to harsh but how sad that this is even a choice on Amazon. Sounds like a story written by an eight grader. With lines like the Junkie coffee pot, it stuck to her like slime... ridiculous and unintelligent. I tried to give it a shot but by the second story I was cringing the reader sounded like she was reading a story to a bunch of first graders and was unsure of her next lines with all of her excitement in the wrong places.. almost joyful during what should have been described as a dangerous situation as well as using that pork chops and apple sauce pretend gangster voice Gregg Brady used years ago as one of the voices. I gave up I could not allow my ears to be abused any further.

Awful!

I have been using this as an accompaniment to barn cleaning. The writing is terrible, the stories predictable and interchangeable and the reading ... well if what you’re reading is this bad then i suppose it makes sense that almost every man sounds like a southerner and every foreigner like a Mexican with an Hungarian mother ... I had high school freshmen who could have turned this out and just barely gotten a passing grade.

AMAZING STORY

I loved the entire collect , all of them are very well written and hard to stop listening.
At one point, I listen to the stories on a ten hour drive .
The only thing that I was not so impressed with was the narrators. None of them did a good job of changing voices for different characters.

Excellent

Great box set, have read the stories and enjoyed listening to them on audio. Good narration added to the stories. Well done, and great in a box set. Given audio for my voluntary review

First two were great.... but

I enjoyed the first two stories and the narrators. However, when I got to the 3rd story, I found that he only acting the narrator knows is exclamation! I found it difficult to finish listening and stopped it. So I don’t know about the 4th story..
