One thing leads to another

A young man seeks Ms Hewitt's assistance with finding his birth mother.
In the process another situation causes Ms Hewitt to assist in investigating a crime which the young man had been accused of commiting.
Again, this series is similar to another couple of female detective stories that have previously been released. I suppose it is the era when woman doing what was previously deemed a man only occupation is part of the attraction of the genre. Each story is individual as the crimes and the people participating in them.

Delightful!

Another delightful short murder mystery with the unflappable Miss Hewitt taking control and solving the who-done-it mystery.
She surrounds herself with a colorful collection of sometimes amusing and sometimes serious people who help her in every way they can.
The story is well written, runs smoothly and kept me listening to the audio and I soon finished it. There were a few surprises along the way and this made the story even more interesting.
The audio is once again done by Julia Eve and she does a really good job with it.
I requested and received a promotional copy of the audiobook and my voluntary and unbiased review is recorded above.

Not bad

I enjoyed the characters but it was a little hard to follow. I like that it wasn’t very long so I was able to listen to it a one afternoon while I was driving. It’s worth a listen to. I will check out more in the series.

Good narration really enhances this series!

Miss Hewitt Investigates the Man in the Tree is the second audiobook published in the Miss Hewitt series. The title character is lady detective Miss Isabel Hewitt and the setting is 1915 London, at a time when Great Britain is at war with Germany. In this story Isabel is asked by a young soldier to find out who is his natural mother after the death of his adopted mother. Isabel quickly locates his mother, but when she arrives in Brighton to inform him of the results, the young soldier is arrested after the body of a young girl is body found on the beach.

Like in the first story, Miss Hewitt Investigates the Return of the Ripper, Isabel butts head with the investigating officer who arrested her client in error, and she methodically tracts down the killer in short order. Like I mentioned in my review of the first book, I’d really like to know how Isabel developed such great investigation skills and how she appears to be independently wealthy. Admittedly, I enjoyed this story better than the first book in the series, probably because I knew what to expect (not much character development).

I listened to the Audible version of this story narrated by Julia Eve, which runs about 2 1/2 hours long. Her narration was very enjoyable and she really bought the characters to life, using a variety of distinct voices. In summary, I’m looking forward to listening to other books narrated by Julia Eve.

Good Story

Interesting a woman detective in 1915, London when there was a war with Germany. Asked to investigate by a young soldier, which led to finding a murder of another. Interesting good characters and good narration
