Publisher's summary

Welcome to Nocturne Falls - the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.

Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus' niece, heir to the Winter Throne, and now...private investigator. Sort of. When she buys a sealed box at an estate sale and cat-related circumstances cause that box to be opened, life in Nocturne Falls starts to go haywire. Jayne has no choice but to figure out what she unleashed and how to recapture it.

But Jayne suspects the woman behind the box is hiding something. Something that could cause a town resident serious trouble. Or, worse, to lose their life. With the help of her two favorite guys, a sexy vampire and a hot summer elf, and a few new friends, Jayne tackles what feels like an impossible mission. And winds up almost iced herself.

Can't Get Enough Nocturne Falls!

I'm a sucker for all things Nocturne Falls! l love the idea of a town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year as a cover up so all supernatural beings can go about their lives right out in the open. When the non-supernatural drink the local spelled NF's water, they never suspect all the crazy weird things they see are actually real. Kristen Painter has done an AMAZING developing the world with such rich and vivid details giving the stories a realistic quality.

Jayne Frost is a funny spin-off from the original Nocturne Falls series that takes the reader back to NF to revisit all unique characters and cleverly named shops and businesses while she solves another case. Jayne's cat has accidently released a mischievous Imp from a decorative box she bought at an estate sale and now it's playing devilish tricks on the whole town. Frustrated, the town is expecting Jayne to find the Imp and stop it before it causing anymore havoc, and now she has another case to solve. Where did the Imp come from and why is it here.

Kudos to Hollis McCarthy for delivering an awesome performance! I liked how she portrayed Jayne and the new characters; however, I have to be honest, I miss B.J. Harrison. Harrison did such an outstanding job with the original series, especially the male characters and their accents. McCarthy and Harrison would make an awesome duo for future stories in either series.

Miss Frost Ices the Imp was a fun light listen that's cute, clean and can be easily read by all ages, and totally worth a credit!

Another winner!

Poor Jayne. She has another adventure. This time looking for an Imp that is causing havoc for Nocturne Falls. It will take her and all her friends and then some to catch the little Imp. This book is just a good as the first as well as all the other Nocturne books. I am so glad i found this series. It makes me laugh and laugh. Keep up the good work Kristen. I also love the narrator. She brings life to all the characters.

Cute story, Narrator is a huge turn off

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I like this book, it's lighthearted and fun, so if you're looking for a simple mystery, not too complex with some light romance, this is a fun listen.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Hollis McCarthy?

B.J. Harrison, or really anybody else. This narrator's voice makes my eyes want to roll right out of my face. She has this annoying inflection in everything she says that sounds like she's asking you a question, and she never seems to pause. I actually don't mind her doing the other characters voices, it's just Jayne's voice and the narration that drives me crazy.

Was Miss Frost Ices the Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery worth the listening time?

Yes, I work at a computer all day, and this helps the day go by with some lighthearted fun.

Not bad

The book is ok, exactly what I expect from Kristen Painter and the series. My only complaint is the narrator. It's almost like she doesn't know how to use inflection and punctuation. Throughout the book I kept thinking she must have attended the William Shatner school of acting.

ICE PRINCESS AND THE IMP

If you could sum up Miss Frost Ices the Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery in three words, what would they be?

FUNNY. MYSTERY. AWESOME!
Funny as all get out! With a touch of mystery/suspense. Including so many town characters into the story was AWESOME! Loved it - and I am so glad that Spider can still talk. That was a NICE touch Kristen!!

What other book might you compare Miss Frost Ices the Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery to and why?

Well the first Miss Frost book was great - so I guess I would have to list that. However, the Miss Frost stories are lighter and funnier than the other Nocturne Fall books. I am glad that Kristen Painter brought this funnier lighter side to Nocturne Falls.

What does Hollis McCarthy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hollis does a great job as Miss Frost. Love her doing that and the main characters that surround Jayne. It was a little harder to hear Birdie, Hank, Stanhill, and a couple others when I am used to BJ Harrison doing those parts in the other books, but I overlooked it and enjoyed the job that Hollis did. Great job Hollis!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, yes and yes. I have all the Nocturne Fall books and have listened to ALL of them numerous times. Kristen cannot write them fast enough and make them available in audio form fast enough. It is just wishful thinking on my part that we use magic to clone her and get the end product her fans need. Love you Kristen!

Any additional comments?

Still waiting for this to be made into a TV series. I quit watching TV because I didn't like the programming that is on......but I would watch this - plus I would record and watch over and over. I have so many favorite characters. Even if you didn't do a TV series, your could produce and put straight to DVD and sell. I would buy!!!!!

An improvement over the first Miss Frost Mystery

I liked the first book in this series, but if I had one complaint, it was that the story only seemed to barely interact with the Nocturne Falls environment.
Not so in the second book. Vampires, weres, and witches are all over the place in this book, and i was glad to see that the elves are integrating well into Falls society. I look forward to the next book.

Juvenile, boring and annoying!

I can't believe Kristen Painter really wrote this, and I am dumbfounded at the number of high ratings for this book. Except for an occasional vague reference to having sex, this reads like a children's story. The storyline is amazingly boring, nothing of note happens, and the ending is just plain ridiculous. The narrator is really, really annoying as she pauses on about every fifth syllable "weeeellll I didn't think sheeeeeee would" and narrates the main character using the kind of fake, weird voice an adult uses to imitate a child talking. Stick with the non-Frost books!

Double Love

If you could sum up Miss Frost Ices the Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery in three words, what would they be?

The story line is good except for the the over done scenario (by several other writers) where a lady can't make up her mind on which man she wants. Ridiculous. We ladies deserve better than that plot line.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Excellent ending no disappointments.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This is an entertainment book, not a thinking book, so nothing really moved me, but I did laugh a few times. Spider is funny.

Mischief Managed

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This book is so full of fun and mayhem that even AllState would want to insure the town of Nocturne Falls. While they are in good hands with Jayne at the wheel, many insane occurrences such as a certain news paper executive turning blue.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Miss Frost Ices the Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery?

Delaney asking Jayne to beg her Aunt Martha for the fudge recipe.

What does Hollis McCarthy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hollis can bring the characters to life in a way your mind can't. Supremely talented narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book is a laugh a minute.

Entertaining Characters

Enjoyed the characters, and the story. But the readers voice fluctuated too much. She would go from very low to normal and I had to keep the volume up high to hear her continuously.
