Publisher's summary

An unforgettable fantasy retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice that is romantic, funny, and more relevant than ever. “A charming retelling” (Locus Magazine)

Elizabeth Bennet is hiding a forbidden power. She can speak to draca, the fire-breathing creatures kept as status symbols by English gentry. But Mr. Darcy has noticed, and he has his own dark secret.

When Elizabeth’s sister falls deathly ill, the cure lies in the mysteries of draca. Elizabeth, aided by her brilliant sister Mary, defies restrictive English society to hunt for lost draca lore. She must hurry. England’s war with France has drawn other dangerous hunters.

Elizabeth’s search leads her to the fabulous Pemberley estate, home of the entitled and infuriating man whose proposal she scorned. There, Elizabeth’s worlds smash together — protocol against passion, and exultation against the risk of love.

But the stakes are greater than her sister’s life. Elizabeth must test herself against a distant war.

And her enemy is not who she thought.

“Thrilling, superbly paced, and moving. I highly recommend this novel to fans of Jane Austen, as well as to anyone who has ever pondered the mystery of dragons.” (Katherine Sturtevant, author of At the Sign of the Star)

“A historical romance that encompasses the Napoleonic Wars, arcane marriage laws, and women with the power to command the fiercest, most dangerous, and wisest of beasts” (Vanessa MacLaren-Wray, author of All That Was Asked)

Miss Bennet’s Dragon is a stand-alone audiobook that begins a trilogy of Jane Austen Fantasy.

was Lizzy always that annoying?

The narrator was great and the connect and development of dragons into the story was good, buy while I remember the character of Elizabeth to being very prideful and mildly irritating, the author seemed to take it to a whole other level making her pretty unbearable. it is always hard to finish a book when you don't like the main character

Not to be missed.

Especially if you love Darcy, Elizabeth and dragons. Narration is exquisite. Acted, not read. And languages and accents well done.

Jane Austen+fantasy

This is an engaging story that takes you on a wonderful journey. Truly enjoyable experience. I did read the book first and very much enjoyed both versions. I hope there is a book 2 that comes out soon.

Absolutely wonderful

I love the love story, No smutty stuff just a developing realization and love. Lizzy’s wit is so fun and actually made me laugh out loud. It definitely left off with me wanting more!

Jane Austin Meets Dragon Fantasy Adventure

I thoroughly enjoyed this variation of Pride and Prejudice. The author kept true to some of the best and most memorable scenes in the original, but it has a unique twist with how he threw in the dragon element. Some of the relationships between the main characters were altered slightly but not so dramatically to completely disrupt the feel of the original. There's more background given into the Napoleonic War which was fun, and also the mention of the British Aristocracy's involvement with slavery in the Colonies during the climate change that took place as Britain made slavery illegal. There are touches of radical Christainity with an inquisition and also alluded to an upcoming LGBT relationship. This story had a larger adventure to it then I had expected which did make it more difficult to put down the further in I got.

It was a fairly clean read, free of language, there was more violence due to the dragons and some was a bit graphic but not overly so, and free of any overly intimate scenes. There is only mild images of clothes in the way and tangled the morning after but nothing beyond kissing described, the bedroom doors were closed. I would place it was a PG13 and for middle school to adult read.

The narrator did a great job with the differentiations, overall acting and accents. I did find her a touch slow but it was perfect at 1.2x speed.

A great story with dragons

This is such an imaginative story with dragons. I loved it. There is so much yo learn about how dragons affect those in England and throw in the war with France and there’s so much more.
Elizabeth’s family has always been stronger than most. There are abilities given to some and mysteries of the dragon world.
This was a good story and the narrator brought it to life. I would recommend highly.

pride and prejudice fantasy

Could not put it down. The same basic story between Darcy and Elizabeth but with Dragons. Fun story with decent narrator.

A little hard to follow in places

There were scenes that had so much going on, in so many areas at once, that it was difficult to get a clean mental picture without a “replay”.

Otherwise, a good story with a sci-fi twist.

Good narration as well
