unexpected Ending!

If you like Slasher this is for you it's a love letter to Slasher in my opinion and the epilogue is a Easter egg! love it!

Mischief Night

Susan has finally gotten the courage to leave her abusive husband. She takes her young son, Franky, and heads to her brother's house. Little does she know that the horrors awaiting her there are so much worse that what she has been enduring! Full of great characters (but don't get too attached!), fast-paced and thoroughly entertaining, this is a great Halloween read!

This was an enjoyable read, reminiscent of the 1980's slasher movies we all know and love. Take three escapees from a mental hospital, mix them with a religious zealot, throw in a stormy night and BOOM! Total mayhem! Will anyone survive the night? Will Susan become the "final girl"? Will her abusive husband become the hero? You will have to read the book to find out!

The narrator was perfect and his performance added a lot to this book. The author is quickly becoming one of my favorites when I want a well-written horror tale! Highly recommend!

Love the old school slasher style!

I loved that this book was inspired by the movie Halloween. This slasher style is just what I was looking for to continue my spooky reads this month. I loved how the beginning was set up to leave you in anticipation the whole time and keep you guessing on how certain parts were going to play out when they did happen. James Kaine has yet to disappoint me with his writing. He’s been a favorite author of mine this year!

That’s it, that’s my review. 5 Stars.



James weaves together a really short yet extremely brutal Halloween story that left me with my jaw on the floor. James has a way of getting you emotionally invested in the characters just to rip your heart out and smash it into the floor.



And as always, Tom Jordan is just one of the best narrators out there right now. Whenever I see his name on an audiobook, I know I just have to listen to it.



I know this is a short review for what I typically post, but nothing I say will do this story justice. Do yourself a favor and read this book. You will not be disappointed.
