Wow awesome narrator&author 6star story Wow

if your not sure about this book get it now right now . I absolutely fell for the characters so quick I have listened to over 300 audiobooks and definitely read more than that and this book is 1 of my top favourites . It's a rare treat to find a book that makes u care so so deeply for the characters or dislike curtain 1s yet this book does it 10 fold . zIts not a action packed story but it's a story you will not want to stop hearing about and very very few books had ever made me feel so much emotion about not to say it's not also funny and light hearted at times but damn it is for sure deep and powerful and the author also narrated it is just perfect every character's voice done so well whether 10 year old boy or girl or a grandma or any accent it is a 6 star book all the way

Very entertaining YA

One of the best YA stories I've heard in a long time. Love the fact this is a stand alone, sometimes 1 book is enough. Narration was perfect.

A lot going on...

This book felt like an eternity to read in the beginning. There was a lot going on and it didn’t all seem necessary. The wording seemed really dramatic and each scene in the book was either over or under explained.
The character description and developments were pretty good. The hard issues in this book were also done well. I really liked the grandparents.
It kind of felt like 2 different stories. One was a child recalling how his sister is special and what made her so with clips from his own life thrown in. And the other is teen angst into becoming a star. I think it could have easily been a series of books and not just one. Because Phoe was the main character from Miracles eyes 85% of the book- when she left, the book got disconnected. I’m sure it was intentional to convey his need for her but I didn’t really love it.
I didn’t love the reader changing voice when the character recalled someone else saying something.
His voice was nice to listen to for the story line though.
I think this book would be received well by readers who like a single vision tale. Someone who likes biographies with a sci-fi twist. Someone with a really good attention span.
I rate this book 7/10 for me. It was an emotional and provoking story but it was just too long and drawn out.

Not just a kid story

In reading the book I just loved Big Ed, Grandpa Mo and Grandma--I love her playing the drums and looking at Phe at dinner and always calling her Stephanie--that is the minor fodder. The author tackled several huge mind bending things. This is not a pithy little book! This book has legs and substance!

One of the hugest things the book took on was rape and multiple sides of it. The author did not miss any of the mess. Even the one sentence, the shame in the pleasure. The author handled the rape as skillfully as Liev Grossman did in his Magicians series and the rape of Julia. Both authors added something to the horror that women who have been raped would leave out of the description of the trauma fine line.

I also like the band the Mad Hatters, a nod to Morrisey and the cure I am certain of it.
Clear story.
Minimal repetition.
Very well done bringing Miracle and Phoenix up from the under 10 into their 30s without flinching.

Review for miracle and Phoenix

I really enjoyed York's voices for the different characters. Overall I'd say this theatrical telling of the book is geared towards a young but mature audience as some of the repeated content is pretty graphic.

York's first person juxtaposed characterization of the two main characters growing up together creates a fun dynamic of differing perspectives of their hometown and the adventures they get into. The story is written very clearly and cohesively, with an easy to follow fantastical plot.

A Fascinating Tale

This was a great story of 2 children born on 9/11. Fraternal twins who have a fascinating connection. The love of family and themes of death and mystical connections wind through. We're taken through what is extraordinary lives in the ordinary world. I really enjoyed (even laughed at loud) the interactions of this family as the kids go from preteens throughout their teen into young adult years. I think this is a very good book and do recommend it.

Wonderful performance of the Characters.

The author, who is also the narrator, does a great job performing/reading the different characters. An engaging story worth listening to.

Unique and Engaging

This book is a must read. I assure you have not read anything like it.

Miracle and Phoenix's characters are so vividly constructed you are left feeling that you truly know them and have personally invested in their journey together. Their lives are unique with a touch of intrigue and folly without undermining relatability. This story and its characters will stay with you long after you are done.

GREAT STORY!

I absolutely loved this story! The narration was superb and gave that extra flair to the story. I guess writing the story itself gives you an edge above others narrating your book. It will keep you entertained. This author did a great job with the characters and plot. I love this author's style of writing. I can't wait to read more of his books!
