Story
Amelia Charron is a neuroscientist researching brain disorders. She routinely uses astonishing mind-linking technology that allows her to enter the dream world of patients. Each night, Amelia acts as a guide through the bizarre wonderland of the mind-an assisted lucid dream. It's a technique that reroutes neural pathways to heal the brain, but it's not without psychological dangers for both the patient and the guide. Orlando Kwon will do anything to keep the frightening voices at bay. Alien voices, he's sure, but he has no idea what they are saying.

He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

Story
There is a huge, bold black streak in the sky. Branches appear out of nowhere over North America, Southern Europe, and Central Africa. People who live beneath The Rift can see it. But scientists worldwide are distressed - their equipment cannot pick up any type of signal from it. The rift appears to consist of nothing. Literally. Nothing. Nada. Niente. Most people are curious but not overly concerned. The phenomenon seems to pose no danger. It is just there. Then something jolts the most hardened naysayers, and surpasses the worst nightmares of the world's greatest scientists.

Publisher's Summary
When Betelgeuse turns supernova and showers the Earth with unexpected radiation, it changes everything.
Mindslip is totally preposterous, yet the story unfolds as if it is happening to you, right now. You are astrophysicist Geoff Arnold, and suddenly you find your body changed beyond all recognition. You then discover that your wife and children have vanished into a world you can hardly recognize. Can you find them and save the world from the effects of Mindslip?
Prepare to be immersed in bizarre and unexpected characters and to imagine their impossible yet frighteningly realistic predicaments.
Penned by Tony Harmsworth, a new British author who has already achieved two UK Kindle best sellers in his first year, Mindslip is an extraordinary, truly unique book that blends science fiction with soft psychological horror and unexpected humor.

So, this is something special!
I follow Tony, so when I heard about 'Mindslip: Evolution's Nemesis' being on Audible, I felt I must simply just buy it - his books have never disappointed me. I enjoy his Kindle books because there's always something new to consider and the plot, characters and prose weave together splendidly every time. An Audible listen, then, was new to me from this author. Whilst not always true with Audible books, on this occasion, the story became so compelling, I find it hard to imagine reading it as the text will add anything. Thanks, Tony - again!

it shouldn't work, but it does and very well too.
The premise is pretty laughable really but it works so well. No spoilers, but the reason why this book works is that the questions that the characters ask, won't be the questions you would ask. In a way, you get twice the value because you are drawn in and question the direction of the story based on your own thought processes. I really liked it it, I got in to the story and the characters kinda made sense. The actors are good and the story goes along at a pace without really much happening. I like weird, and this is very weird.
