Just perfect for my almost 3 year old

If you could sum up Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel in three words, what would they be?

really good book

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mary Anne, she's the star of the show.

What does Rod Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He reads it perfectly. I try and read it like him when I read my son the same book. The best reader I've come across so far.

Any additional comments?

My son wanted to listen to this every day for two weeks, sometimes two times a day. He loves that he can "watch" the pages of the book on the iPod touch . It's a special book and such a good reader. The whole family loves to listen to this book.

classic, beloved story

A wonderful book for children. My young boys like it. This audio book is perfect to accompany the original book by Virginia Lee Burton. Pleasant background music and an articulate reader make it something my kids want to listen to again and again.

A Favorite

This is one of my 4 year old son's favorite stories. I was so happy to have found it on audible. The narration is great, and my son will listen to this several times a week!

classic book, not so great reader

we love the story of Mike Mulligan and Mary Ann and we're excited to purchase the audiobook. However the reader just reads the story. He doesn't do onomatopoeias, fun pauses or alter his voice for characters

Great story

Listened to this story for our prek class. I like the storyteller's voice and cadence. Easy to listen to. Great story about recycling and good stewardship of our resources.

Excellent production!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The Weston Woods productions for young children are wonderful! Please add more of these and similar productions by Scholastic, etc. (classic picture books with narration) to Audible catalog. I'm not really interested in purchasing the picture book on Amazon along with an additional Audible purchase for these brief stories, but I am interested in classic versions converted from books on tape, books on cd from excellent production companies such as Weston Woods.
