Publisher's Summary

Genteel society ladies who compare notes on their husbands' suicides. A hilariously foul-mouthed black drag queen. A voodoo priestess who works her roots in the graveyard at midnight. A prominent antiques dealer who hangs a Nazi flag from his window to disrupt the shooting of a movie. And a redneck gigolo whose conquests describe him as a "walking streak of sex". These are some of the real residents of Savannah, Georgia, a city whose eccentric mores are unerringly observed, and whose dirty linen is gleefully aired, in this utterly irresistible audio. At once a true-crime murder story and a hugely entertaining and deliciously perverse travelogue, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is as bracing and intoxicating as half-a-dozen mint juleps.

Critic Reviews

"Uproarious...a rich, irresistible mix of snobbery, mayhem, sex, mind-boggling parochialism, and mildewed magnolias....A glorious vanity fair of human folly." (The Boston Globe)

My Mistake

I Thought I was buying the unabridged version. The Narrator is good, the story is great but you just miss too much in the abridged version, you don't really get the flavor of the story - just the facts. I would strongly suggest that you buy the unabridged version.

Not the full version!

I've read this book more times than I care to admit. Occasionally I buy an audiobook of a book I've read just to hear it while driving, which is why I bought this. I was so disappointed over the editing of this recording....whole sections were taken out, such as the Lady Chablis crashing a debutant ball and the intro of Emma Kelly, the lady of 6,000 songs. If you want to get the full experience, buy the printed book!

Love SAVANAH!

I HAVE ONLY BEEN TO SAVANAH ONCE, BUT I LOVED THE TOWN. THE BOOK MAKES ME WANT TO LIVE THERE. WISH THERE WERE MORE BOOKS LIKE THIS.

This version abridged

Mistake on my part but would rather have the full unabridged edition. Too much is missing from this one.

Savannah wow

This book was chosen for my book club, but I had to make a road trip so I picked up the Audible. So happy I did! What a delightful read
