Publisher's summary

First in a new trilogy

From Charlaine Harris, the best-selling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale - populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that's how the locals prefer it. Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It' s a pretty standard dried-up western town. There' s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There' s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there' s new resident, Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he' s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own). Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth....

Slow.

I am a Charlaine Harris fan, but this book was too slow. it captured that s all town feel. she developed her characters nicely and she made the reader want to be a part of this community. The ending has a good twist, but overall I felt underwhelmed and this is the first audible I had to force myself to finsh. I was waiting for magical battles, or steamy scenes...not this book.

Something to listen to

Nothing fantastic, but does help pass time. Not at all enthralling. Basic storyline. Nothing extraordinary.

Ugh, the cat is SO annoying, disappointed in story

I liked the Sookie Stackhouse series, though I did think it went on a few books too long. I was hoping that there would be some of the same charm in the new series. It didn't come across to me. It seemed to follow the same basic formula of others of her books, which some probably like. I liked the voice of the reader, she sounded like Elizabeth Montgomery to me.I suppose if you are in the mood for snack food reading, you might like, it. I want something different, not the same formula different setting.

Family Ties

Loved every character and their interactions. I loved that each person has an interested life and past to explore. Can't wait for the next one.

LOVED TI!

These books make you want to just keep listening over and over - the story lines are interesting - but most of all the characters are friends now - I want to know what is going on in Midnight on a regular basis!

Love

I love all three books in this series, you will too. This is a great trilogy with characters you will learn to love or hate. I wish she would keep writing about Midnight, Texas.

Give it time

It takes a little time to get into. once you figure out who all the players are it grabs you to keep listening.
