Publisher's Summary

A truce between the living and the dead isn't enough to keep Claire Danvers out of danger in this third entry in the Morganville Vampires series.

Claire Danvers' college town may be run by vampires, but a truce between the living and the dead has made things relatively safe - for a while. Now people are turning up dead, a psycho is stalking Claire, and an ancient bloodsucker has proposed private mentoring.

interesting books, don't like the narrator

I enjoyed reading the first 2 books in this series after they were recommended by a friend. I then purchased book 3 in audio, and had a hard time listening to it. The narrator is flat and uninteresting, it's almost as if she's reading it for the first time, not enthusiasm, no emotion. I will be reading the rest of the books, I couldn't tolerate listening to another book narrated like this one - just bad.

Midnight Alley

I think these books are fun! I just want to make it clear to everyone that audible does have books 1-7 available and it is important to read them in order.

what a stupid series.

Claire is a big eyed cow while Buffy was a smart kid. I had to get that out of my system. Now. Claire has a morality problem. She wants go be a good girl and a good person. She doesn't have the faintest clue how. She continuously sacrifices her friends' welfare to save rapists and murderers. A girl pushes her down the stairs and she decides to help her even if it means the boyfriend she says she cares for is near death's door and needs her support. She is trying to save the vampire race despite the fact they enslave, torture and murder the residents of an entire town. She is painted as a caring heroine in this series but her behavior at best is that of a really stupid, morally challenged t--t, and at worst, a collaborator whose cowardice has completely suborned her moral sense. On top of all that, she is a slow thinking, clumsy elephant with a strong tendancy to masochism. This is SUCH a pile of defacated material.

Good story, but abrupt unfinished ending

I've enjoyed this series so far, but was very surprised, then disappointed when this one ended, completely unresolved. I even checked to see if I'd forgotten to download the 2nd half - but that wasn't the case. I imagine it was meant to be a cliff hanger - but instead it just feels as though the book stops for no reason. Many authors can manage to write series where each book still has a complete story - and this was true for the first two books of the series - but not this one. If this is the pattern for future books in the series - they've lost me as a buyer.

I am falling for this town

Narrator: Great
Story: Fun, imaginative, exciting
Characters: Spunky and realistic

I am so falling for this town and even though the residents seem a bit more abrasive? than your usual suburban citizens i think you will agree that it makes for a great story.

Already listening to the next book. :)

Gawd awful beating a dead horse

Could this book get any more boring. Content isn't one of Rachel Caines strong point. Massive dialog just to talk and then repeat the subject over and over and over seems to be her writing style. How many times do we have to deal with the dead boring vampire who doesn't get his medicine who might hurt Claire? It's terrible when you're hoping the main character doesn't make it so you can bury the seiries. I bought on an audbile deal where I got to book 12 of the series for $60. I deeply regret it. I'm forcing myself to listen but it's difficult when it's beat a dead horse content and characters I barely like to all out hope they don't make it.

A really bad book.

Rachel Caine has written some books that I enjoyed. But this one is way too far out in space for me. It is juvenile and has no real plot. I had to force myself to continue, thinking that later on I could find an interesting theme. The book could be in the middle of a more serious scene and then break off to an elaborate description of how someone is dressed and compare it to the rest. It's just a silly teenage story. Sorry,,,, but I was really disappointed.

Wouldn't sync with kindle

I love being able to switch between reading and listening depending on what I'm doing. I purchased the entire series of Morganville Vampires in a set. This (so far) is the only book which wouldn't work with the book version, and was not worded the same either. This made it a little difficult to find my place when switching, in addition to the outrageous price.
Although the books are regarded as "young adult" genre, I have found them fun to listen and read. Recommend this for all ages over 12 or so (due to violence, language, etc), but believe adults will enjoy this.
Just watch out for the Audible version as it does not match the book; that's not to say it's bad at all - just different.

Loved the book

I struggled with the narrator's interpretation of the voices. Especially the main male characters.
