Publisher's Summary

More than seven years after his death, Michael Jackson continues to fascinate the world. Shana Mangatal was one of Jackson's only constant and true rocks of stability for nearly two decades. Their relationship was quiet and sweet and real - a closely guarded secret, known only to a few trusted employees and friends. Shana is now coming forward to tell their love story. Her story is rich with every little detail. She witnessed the scandals, lawsuits, the release of groundbreaking albums and subsequent world tours, big-budget short films, and addictions. Michael and Me entertains and inspires, but above all, Shana continues to treat Michael (and his legacy) with respect. This is not an exploitative tell-all, but rather a book that shows the side of Michael people never knew. In it, Shana paints a more intimate picture of this beloved, yet very misunderstood man.

Delusional

I'm sorry to say but I feel 100% that the author is extremely delusional and has created a book out of her obsession with Michael Jackson as a way to rewrite history so that it's the way it would have been in her dreams. I do not believe Michael and her had any sort of a relationship outside of work. I found myself laughing out loud as this point showed up several times throughout this work of fiction. Only the author and Michael know the real truth and sadly one of them can never tell us the truth. If it is true at least she has her memories of him forever but it's obvious she continued to do anything she could all the way up until the end to be in his life, as a stalker is known to do, in one form or another.

Very entertaining , just entertainment like Michael Jackson told the author “ don’t believe everything you read”

a star struck crush with an imaginary one sided relationship . Simple kind gestures of Michael Jackson was misunderstood as a relationship. Author seems nice but her interpretation of Michael’s kindness was confused as a romantic interest. Her actions are very obsessive. Most of the book was mostly about her wondering why Michael ghosted her and ignored her. Someone who pops in and out of your life is not a romantic partner. She calls herself a close friend of Michael Jackson. Writing a book and telling intimate details isn’t too friendly to me. No wonder was he seemed skeptical and dodging her.

Michael and me

As began listening to the first 13 chapters it was hard to hear, it seemed like she had disdain in her voice and judgement in her words so I stopped , two weeks later I went back and found the most sad love story ever written , there was laughter and joy and sadness in it I began to feel how the author felt as she read. I give her five stars and a thumbs up for her courage in being able to tell her story. I recommend all Jackson fans to read this and not Judge a book by its cover. May god bless you Shana. Mixed Emotions

Shana did a fantastic job telling the story. She is wonderful with words, she added amazing quotes and her voice is so sweet. But on the other hand Michael isn't here to defend himself when it comes to this.. She even said herself that he told her never to talk to the press again about this situation. So I don't understand why she thought it was ok to write a book so personal about him. I just don't get it..

Broke my heart and then made it bloom!

I recommend this book especially to those who are true Michael Jackson fans or anyone who is interested in the truth of his life. This story has it all: heartbreak, laughter, tears, joy. It’s been a long time since a book made me laugh and cry. I felt like I was being transported back in time and I was experiencing the story myself! This audiobook reignited my love for Michael Jackson and I felt it reopening my heart chakra which had been tightly closed for a long time. This story filled me with hope, inspiration and love.

Give it a chance, be open minded, its worth it

This book was a great experience for me. I appreciated how honest Shana was. She was able to bring Michael to life from that honesty. I was able to put myself in her shoes. It was beautifully written. There was so much passion, love, pain, confusion, excitement, determination and so much more. I laughed and cried. Together they created something magical without even trying because fate did all the work. 10/10 would by the book and read it again over and over. I listened to the audio version first which made it even better because Shana reads it herself and you can feel the emotions and truth in her voice. I absolutely loved it!

A book written by a narcissist fan.

What could Shana Mangatal have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I don't recommend this book because she disrespects Michael Jackson throughout her book. Shame on YOU Shana Mangatal for lying on a dead man that was nothing but nice to you even though he knew you was a stalker who wanted what he had (fame and fortune).

She talks about how Michael demanded to be called King Of Pop, which is a ridiculous accusation, Michael never had to demand anything and even if he did demand to be called ''King Of Pop'' it still doesn't mean the people will call him that, so again that's a ridiculous claim for her and only her to ever make.

She also claimed Michael bargained for awards, complete lies. Why would Michael need to bargain for awards when he was the best performer to ever live? it just doesn't make sense nor does it sound believable.

She talks about Michael preferring to be around little boys all the time, how he apparently withheld sex from Lisa (she wishes that was true), how he allegedly forgot who she was even though he allegedly took her virginity (I think any man who would take a woman's virginity would remember who they was), Shana also claims Michael faked being ill to try and get out of concerts, etc this is only a few examples of the accusations she is ACCUSING a deceased man of.

Lets not forget the main fact, she has no evidence whatsoever to prove of this relationship, all she has is fan memorabilia, work documents & a dirty yogurt cup. I gave Shana just like the rest of the fans the benefit of the doubt thinking she was telling the truth, then when she released this book I realized she was lying. What type of relationship or friendship was it really when she hasn't even got a personal photo? and save me the nonsense of ''the times was different back then'' because Shana has multiple photos with different celebs from that time period.

Even if this book is the gospel, I still wouldn't be jealous (That's what Shana and her minions like to call people who don't like her book) because the way she portrays Michael out to be is, some sort dog, who forgot who she was, disrespected her by calling her house stuff (Scott "House" Schaffer who was fired for extortion, he's one of the people who endorse this book), never got anything from him such as letters etc all she got was merchandise the fans get, and said ''I wished I didn't have sexual desires'' right after he took her virginity, ignored her when she went to his house (she went there on a fan day) making her upset and drive around drinking in hurt, Married Lisa, then divorced her, Married Debbie (got her pregnant three times, she miscarried once), was messing around with Lisa for many years after their divorce, and then impregnated another unknown woman, all whilst Shana stayed invisible. I could go on and on, but if this book is the truth (which i doubt) I'd feel disrespected and used, that's nothing for anyone to be proud of.. but i guess because it's MJ some people are willing to reduce their morals, but i wouldn't. So no jealousy here because by the sounds of what she says, he seems to have treated her like a groupie.

She says she was his friend for so long, but she wasn't even at Michael's funeral and Tatiana was, a simple video girl got an invite to say goodbye to him & Shana never, she watched from home just like the rest of the fans, because that's all she is, a fan.

I'm not willing to believe this story because it doesn't add up, she hasn't got anything personal of his, hasn't got a photo besides a fan meet and greet one, hasn't got many stories to share from her own personal experience. Most of the stories she writes about in the book are from second hand sources & about being an extra in ghosts, which is laughable considering she apparently knew Michael for so LONG(20 years), but has very little insight on who he truly was.

If Shana would've told the truth it would of been a better book. She had no reason to lie because afterall she did meet Michael Jackson and could've told the truth about her relationship working in close situations with him. But instead she chose to lie about a fake secret romance.

Please do your research on the author of this book before you buy it.

Nonsense

A total nonsense book written by an obsessed fan. Nothing to evidence any of the lunatic woman’s delusional claims. Yes she got a part as an extra bLah blah. The hotel elevator scene and then being invited into his room for a soirée after they broke onto his floor is beyond ridiculous. If this title wasn’t free I’d never have bothered with it! Avoid at all costs.

lovely heartfelt book, even mega stars are human

Lovely book, allow us the opportunity to see Michael the person as a human being. Heartbreaking that Shana never got to truly be with the man she loved, who clearly loved her too. Thank you, for sharing your story

Michael and Me :

I found this audio book very interesting. Not only for the Michael Jackson link, but also for the sneak peak into the music industry. I honestly think this even a non Michael Jackson fan would enjoy this book.
Some may doubt what Shana may claim. but I found her words quite factual and very informative. she describes in depth her relationship with Michael Jackson. it's not always great views on him. But always polite and respectful.

Hearing Shana read her own words does add alot to this book. She draws you in, her voice comes over strong, emotional yet quite calming.

As I said earlier the book though obviously about Michael Jackson. it is also an insight into show business. I liked how other famous people are woven in. Dolly Parton, Madonna, Elizabeth Taylor, Brad Pitt etc.

This book for me is a must read/listen . you get backstage stories, behind the scenes stories from Jackson's music videos, stories on his TV appearances and Michael Jackson in everyday life stories .

Some bits are dark and very sad . She covers the child abuse allegations, Michael's insecurities and his untimely passing.

overall Shana does come across as respectful, honest, caring, funny and at times strong and determined woman. plus obviously a very attractive woman I could see how most men would fall for her, so why not MJ?

At times she did lose her way, but did give herself a talking to and bucked herself out of those moment's.

I for one hope we get a follow up. A book about her time working in the showbiz industry around the 90s surely would be an interesting, honest, eye opening account.

Hilarious and horrifying- shame it’s not a comedy or horror

The author makes it very clear how MJ became so delusional- he was apparently spending time with delusional people. According to her MJ was innocent because he had a nice voice. Listening to this story is like overhearing drunk girls in the next cubicle of a club try to reassure their pathetic mate that their man isn’t that bad. This woman had the power to write whatever she wanted and yet this is the story she told? Awful.

Interesting….

Interesting story. The narration was kinda annoying. She sounded quite immature at times and I kept wondering why they did not get together. If they really did love each other surely they would eventually just be together. The subject is of course highly debated! All in all it was an interesting insight into MJ and his life.

Inspiring and uplifting

I really really enjoyed this book. It is different to any other MJ books and refreshing to read new things about the man. I think that truthfully allot of fans find it hard to fully believe things that are said about his life particular his Love life because it was always such a mystery and allot of lies have been said before but I read the book with an open mind and really wanting it to be true and actually believing it is true to his life. Being a life long MJ fan made this book very very joyful and also deeply sad on certain parts but overall it was a fascinating and addictive book. I would recommend it. It made me feel like dreams can come true and I think we all need a bit of that optimism

The story of a fan

At first, I was really interested in this book but then I watched Shana’s video on YouTube about Michael’s secret place or something and realized everything. I believe that the story is true but all in all she always was a fan of him more than a friend. This is Shana’s side of the story. What I mean is, yeah, probably he spent some time with her but their relationship wasn't very usual, Michael was too smart to not understand that she could do everything if he would want and you can feel that in this book or in the video on YouTube just by listening to the way she talks about him. She doesn't talk about him as a someone who was equal to her but the friendship is about being with a person no matter how popular he is and seeing him as someone who is equal to you. I really feel bad for Michael, he didn't have a lot of people around who treated him like a simple person and he really wanted to feel normal.

Wow

This book really paints Michael in a different light then what the audiences knew. He's seen here as a dominant, powerful, passionate man and lover but also as extremely vulnerable and most importantly, innocent and lost man. The fact he never just settled down with Shana truly mind blows me. I guess he never took their relationship as seriously as she did which is honestly heartbreaking. I feel for this woman and all the confusion she went through but I also truly believe she is being honest and genuine here as despite how she wrote about Michael you could tell she truly loved him.

.
