Miami's History with the Mafia

The Italian-American Mafia has a long history in Miami from the days of Al Capone who owned a mansion on the water, the allege involvement of mafia figures to assassinate Fidel Castro in Cuba after losing everything in Havana and other rachets including gambling, horseracing and professional sports in South Florida. Many mafia figures retired or were killed in Miami including Johnny Roselli whose body was later found in a 55-gallon steel fuel drum floating in a bay near Miami in the mid-seventies.
These are the events that have unfolded in South Florida placing Miami on the map for drug trafficking, gambling, organized crime and other criminal schemes.
