Publisher's summary

The Metro books have put Dmitry Glukhovsky in the vanguard of Russian speculative fiction alongside the creator of Night Watch, Sergei Lukyanenko. A year after the events of Metro 2033, the last few survivors of the apocalypse, surrounded by mutants and monsters, face a terrifying new danger as they hang on for survival in the tunnels of the Moscow Metro. Featuring blistering action, vivid and tough characters, claustrophobic tension and dark satire, the Metro books have become bestsellers across Europe.

About the Creator

Dmitry Glukhovsky, born in Moscow in 1979, graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in journalism and international relations. He worked as a TV journalist in France and Russia, and reported for German and Israeli Public National Radio. Glukhovsky is fluent in English, French, German, Hebrew, Russian, and Spanish. Because of his outspoken position on the Putin administration in general and the war against Ukraine in particular, he was sentenced to eight years of prison. The writer lives in exile. The idea to create the internationally acclaimed science-fiction series Metro goes back to his youth: He started it at the age of 16, spending hours in the underground on his way to school. Glukhovsky´s first theater play, The White Factory, is a major success in London. He also engages in the TV, film, and gaming industries as a script writer.

a nice continuation

accents were more clear, or I am more familiar with them here in book II. I am looking forward to metro 2035!

Very different from Metro: Last Light

This was an amazing story, as to be expected of the metro series. Dark and haunting, very different from the game.

Amazing

Such an awesome book. The main character from the previous book doesn't have much of a role in it, but it has new characters and old that show them in different light.

Bummer

Not nearly as good as 2033. Disappointing storyline, disappointing ending. I listen to almost everything twice, would not listen again.

Yes it's not as action packed as the games but as someone who loves the lore of the metro games it was great. I loved the book

Amazing... AGAIN.

once again, Metro surprised me and kept me engaged the entire time. credit also goes to the narrator who brings the characters to real life.

not 2033, but still interesting

It took me a while to realize this was not Artyom, Chapter 2. So it was a bit disorienting at first. But once I got what it was, the style of storytelling made sense, and was really the only way it could have gone. this is a tough review to write without spoilers. lol

great book, but anticlimactic finish

great book, but it suffers from the same problems its predecessor did of swapping out the characters names for their nicknames interchangeably which gets a little confusing sometimes. but the only thing that really ruins this for me is the fact that it all gets resolved way too quickly. Honestly, I was expecting more out of it, but I guess I won't really be able to tell until I listen to the last book.

In the metro but different

It wasn't compelling like the original. it was still good and gave insight to the metro world. Would recommend as part of the trilogy.
