Publisher's Summary

The galaxy’s worst bounty hunter just might be its most relentless hero.

Esper is a vigilante Samaritian with more moral fiber than business sense. Any bounty hunter worth the title knows three rules:

  • Collect half the money up front.
  • Never get emotionally attached.
  • Don’t ask nosy questions.

But with a heart of gold and her companion Kubu by her side, Esper sets out to make the galaxy a better place, preferably making enough money to pay for the fuel to get from one job to the next. But just because she’s not cut out to be ruthless doesn’t mean the galaxy is going to eat her alive.

After all, Esper is also a wizard.

Mission 1: Wayward Saint

A runaway teen needs protection, and Esper takes the job. But a simple rescue and recovery turns ugly when Esper finds herself in the middle of a custody battle with a vicious pirate who’s hired a bounty hunter of his own.

Mission 2: Behind Blue Skies

On the run from troubles of her own, Esper tries to lie low on a suspiciously Utopian colony planet. Unable to keep out of other people’s troubles, Esper gets a terrifying look into justice on a world where truth is a matter of who you know.

Mission 3: House of the Orion Sun

Esper’s mission to protect the galaxy’s most vulnerable takes a turn for the seedy when she tracks a trafficking victim. How long can she hold out when her morals are tested at every turn?

Mission 4: Break the Chain

Esper’s own dark past catches up with her when bounty-hunting wizards corner her. Esper has faced down the galaxy’s worst criminals. Now, she’s going to be forced to stand up to one of the galaxy’s most esteemed institutions - Convocation of Arcane Practitioners.

Even more black ocean content.

More black ocean content, amazing. It follows one of the characters that I didn't like compared to others, but by the end I was wanting more stories again. Great stories characters, and character development.

love this series

Love the humor, witt, and ingenuity of this series. It is never predictable, never lets me down. When Esper was first introduced in Black Ocean, I didnt even think that I'd like her. Honestly, she was my least favorite because she seemed a simple character. I almost didn't bother with this series because I thought what more can this chatacter do?

But it genuinely impressed me, the things that happen to shape her. She's now my favorite.

Fantastic

Fantastic follow up to the Black Ocean. Great to see how Esper and Kobu are getting along with life. Can't wait for the rest.

Worst of the series

The Black Ocean series was pretty good. The Astral Prime series was OK, even though it was basically one long book split into four parts. This series was just awful. The treatment of female characters in this book series was reprehensible. From a teenage girl who was kidnapped and trussed up like a prisoner, to a whore who is mind wiped to be a better lay, to even the girl who accuses an adult man of molesting her to get revenge, the misogyny runs deep.

Author phoned this one in....

I enjoyed Galaxy Outlaws, but this sequel doesn't come close. I expected more, but I couldn't finish it.

main character

It is very annoying having to listen to a religious merc who regrets everything from stubbed toes to gunshots

After galaxy outlaws I needed to get my hands on more of the same and this definitely gave me what I needed , already got the fifth and sixth book of the mercy for hire series and the astral prime series and sins of angels and that probably still won’t be enough for me, there have been some negative remarks from I would imagine the same people about the little noise between chapters or ‘missions’ I say get over it! If that’s all you fixated on you missed out on some amazing stories good job again to mr morin and mr naramore! It will be a dark day indeed when I run out of these books lol

Excellent performance, stories a bit flat

Excellent performance as always. I found the stories to be a bit flat in comparison to the mobius ones, but that's probably to be expected when this focusses just on Esper and Kubu. And the goody two shoes thing is cute, but we could do with a bit more smiting!

Great fun nonetheless!

JS Morin knows how to write a good yarn and M Naramore sure knows how to put a voice to it!
