Publisher's Summary

Makl is looking to become the greatest mercenary the universe has known. In true family tradition, he leaves a trail of mayhem and bodies wherever he goes, steals the most priceless of items, ravishes females left and right. But that all ends the day he comes across the biggest prize of all – a human barbarian.

Fooled into thinking her a priceless virgin and captivated by her pale skinned, two-breasted frame, he abducts her, or at least means to. His plan goes somewhat awry. The not-so-innocent human becomes his partner in crime instead of his prisoner, and together they form an unstoppable duo. Tales of their misdeeds and budding passion become a universal sensation, but there's no room in a mercenary's life for a mate. Or is there?

For the first time in his life, the Mercenary's Guide to Prosperity doesn't have an answer to Makl's questions, and there's no visible threat for him to kill. What's a poor, purple mercenary to do? Admit he's in love – or ditch the delectable human?

Funny and entertaining!

This audiobook is a book I’d read several years ago and it translated well into audiobook form. The purple alien hero is a mercenary from a family of mercenaries that try to outdo one another on pulling the biggest heists and jobs ever. Their man goal in life seems to be wanting to top the leader board as the baddest of the bad. There is so much humor and ego in this story it actually makes you chuckle. The heroine won’t put up with his crap and partners up with him for a job, but he starts to find her more intriguing than annoying after a while. So is it better to be number one, or to have love? Narration was well performed as well.

Sassy female barbarian meets Makl

Funny characters with awesome narration... throw in sexy romance this is a must listen. Makl as the sexy purple male lead has no idea that the sexy human barbarian will bring him to his knees.

Great book to read

so much better than her first book in this series. I like the twist with Oliva, and how they become dependent on each other. I wish her books were longer with more depth, but for a rainy day romance this hits all the right spots.

Another great book by Eve

There were so many things that I enjoyed about this book. I was laughing out loud from the start of the book.

Makl is a mercenary who is feared by many, but he can't refuse to run an errand for his aunt to find a human nanny for his cousin's son. While on the errand he meets Olivia. He thinks that he is saving her, but it turns out that she doesn't need saving at all.

Olivia is a strong and capable woman. Makl is a little surprised when he goes to rescue her and she takes him down instead. She scolds him for messing with her plans. It's one of my favorite parts of the book.

This book has great characters and it's a fun story.

Would Have Had Promise- If Not For Male Narrator

Praise the Lord this was on Audible Escape, I would hate to have spent money on this book. I hate interfering with anyone's cheddar, but I've had such bad luck choosing books lately and this was the icing in an already rotten cake. My chief issue: the male narrator. His female voice had me gnashing my teeth. How can one expect credible sexy time with a voice more akin to a cackling witch?? Maybe Audible has no control over narrator selection, but I've come across too many promising plots (like this one) that have been spoiled by bad voicing. I'm amazed that this book has gotten so many great reviews.

Make Narrator Has a Terrible Female Voice

This is my least favorite of books 1-4 of this series. The male narrator has a great voice for makes, but his voice for the heroine set my teeth on edge. I was hard pressed to finish and only the fact that the narrators alternated chapters made it bearable. The female narrator was great.

The author tried really hard in this book to be funny and it feel kind of flat. I appreciate that she tried to show a different type of male lead, but it all seemed very forced. Also, the male lead seemed stupid and superficial. Not what I’m interested in listening to.

I’ll try the next book in the series, but if it’s anything remotely like this one, I’m out. These books are part of the Escape package, so I don’t have to spend a credit on them. After this book, I wouldn’t risk the next credit in order to give it a try.

Ok

Liked the 2 previous books better than this one. Seems the women have a common theme which was cute at first, but now it’s getting old. Still had moments that were hilarious.
