Publisher's summary

Josey Napier had given up on love after a longtime crush told her he loved her like a sister. Intent on staying busy at work as a surgical nurse to suppress the pain, Josey is shocked when she recognizes Tucker Wheatcraft, the police officer who saved a friend’s child from drowning, on her operating room table—fighting for his own life.

Four months after pulling a young boy from the freezing water while off duty, Tucker is struck by a car and shot. When he wakes up and finds the woman he’s had his eye on standing vigil over him, he’s thankful to be alive, but after weeks of therapy, Tucker still isn’t getting the feeling back in his legs, and the mind games are starting to wreak havoc within him.

Can he ever be the kind of man that Josey deserves?

Fantastic story!

Stacy Eaton does it again with this third book in her Heal Me series. Josie is a nurse, dedicated to her job and patients. She hardly ever takes time off. When Tucker is admitted after a brutal attack, she finds her heart is right there with him. Tucker is facing a life changing injury and his recovery needs special attention. Asking Josie to be his private nurse for the beginning of it seems natural for him. His attraction has been there since they met and now is his chance to get to know her better. But there are obstacles. What about her job? Could she be a private nurse? Will he make a full recovery? And if not, would she want to be with him? Eaton takes us on a realistic journey as Tucker deals with life as it changes and finds his new normal . Josie is a true to life character, facing her feelings as well as finding her passion professionally. It’s compassionate and real. I loved it!!

The narration is fantastic!! MK Blackwood and Justin Hale fall into their characters with ease and bring all the emotions to story. Their voices compliment each other and create a world that was easy to escape into. It’s a listen that is easy on the ears yet one I will not forget.

The HEA is heartfelt and...

In a split-second event, Tucker endures a profound life changing event. On duty the night Tucker is brought to the hospital, Josey becomes much more than Tucker's nurse. Their journey from patient to friends to lovers is impacted by doubts, fears and misunderstandings. The HEA is heartfelt and satisfactorily portrayed by the narrator.

So real. Mimic of life today

Officers are being victimized in todays world. SE just gave an up close and personal account of an officer doing the job he loved and being singled out for mass retribution. Not because he did anything wrong. Because someone doing wrong ended up dead by his own actions.

Josey and Tucker were acquainted through mutual friends. Josey was Tuckers Angel at the hospital during a real rough time for him. She became his in home private nurse. This knowing their were getting closer and that there were no clear boundaries.

The realism of his injuries and resulting recovery were heartbreaking and understandable. The fact he could not fully accept it was hard enough but to have his family doing the same thing. Sent Tucker into a spiral. This after finding a check to Josey.

I enjoy narration. Had more time to become accustom to the voices and the style.

Realistic Struggle

The H suffers from a spinal cord injury as a result of his police work and the h offers to help him during his recovery. I liked that both characters are mature and reacted like adults to some of the real challenges that arose. The narrators did a great job voicing the two characters.

Pleasing!

Tucker was one of the police officers on duty on his way to investigate a protest in progress. He was run down in the street and shot in the stomach before his partner could get to him. He wasn't killed, but he faced months of healing and learning to walk again. He might be in a wheelchair, but it won't be forever if he works at it. Josey was the nurse on duty that night and, after a long surgery, she was there for Tucker to keep him calm. This began a relationship of mutual need to improve Tucker's way of life and to bring him back to the man he was. It wasn't easy, especially when Tucker started feeling down over a misunderstanding with Josey.
M K Blackwood and Justin Hale do a wonderful job with the narration. Their well-modulated voices blend together with just the right amount of emotion to bring each character to life.
