Publisher's summary

"Coming home from work to find my boyfriend banging our hairy, married landlord - in our bed - was bad enough. Discovering Jamie had also cleaned out my bank accounts made it officially the worst day of my life. I think I can be forgiven for wanting revenge, even if a few little laws (and possibly Jamie's nose) got bent in the process.

"Fortunately, the law is on my side in the form of my oldest friend, Tony Gervase. I've tried to deny my attraction to the sexy trooper for years. After all, he made it clear long ago that he wasn't interested in me that way. But if the hot encounter in his kitchen is any indication, he is now. At least the day is ending a whole lot better than it began....

"But the morning after, the Jamie situation goes from bad to seriously messed up. The jerk's in more trouble than I could have imagined. And as it turns out, I don't know Tony as well as I thought I did, either."

Funny but I didn't like one of the voices

**3.5 stars**

I think I would have liked this better on my Kindle and rated it a solid 4 stars instead of 3.5 stars. This was my first audiobook and I'm not completely sold on it. Most of my friends loved this narration. I think the narrator did a great job except for the voice of Tony, which kiiiillllleeeeddd me. He sounded like a constipated Tony Soprano, and I couldn't feel much for him as a character because I hated the voice so much.

This book had many things that I like. It was funny, it was paced well, and it had a lot of action. It confirmed that L.B. Gregg is an author to watch for me. However, I didn't like how the romance part of the book went down. I didn't really get why either of them didn't make a move until now, and I certainly didn't feel the love from them. I wanted more development of their romantic relationship. Also, Mark, who I thought was really funny and endearing, bordered on too-stupid-to-live some of the time. I honestly thought he was going to get his butt killed for most of the story. Silly man.

Too stupid to live

Tony of Mark and Tony is an intelligent, sweet, hot cop. Mark of Mark and Tony is childish and impulsive and no way these two are a love match. Mark makes so many irresponsible decisions throughout this story from beginning to end that it's impossible to find him attractive. Shannon Gunn is awesome as usual. But skip this one. One stupid protagonist wrecks the whole thing. At least it did for me.

Very Funny

What did you love best about Men of Smithfield: Mark and Tony?

I loved the sarcastic humor of the story. The MCs are very endearing. The narrator was really great as Mark, not as great as Tony, but still good. The story was OK, about average as a predicable romance, could have been better.

Which character – as performed by Shannon Gunn – was your favorite?

Mark, easily Mark. He made me laugh out loud.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I did

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book in the audio format. Strangely this is one of those rare occasions where I don't think I would have liked the printed version better. The narrator was funny as hell and I found myself laughing out loud. So fair warning if you listen to it in public.

Gobsmacked - In a Good Way

Would you consider the audio edition of Men of Smithfield: Mark and Tony to be better than the print version?

Yes. I read this story a couple of years ago when it was entitled "Gobsmacked". It was the first story I read by Mrs. Gregg and I enjoyed it so much, I purchased others. I never could have imagined the characterizations in my head as interpreted by the narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

It was hilarious and I could see myself reacting in many of the same ways as Mark. The bible incident at the church had me guffawing out loud. Good thing I was at home alone and not at work while listening.

Have you listened to any of Shannon Gunn’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first book that I actually listened to that Mr. Gunn narrated, but not the first one I purchased. I love his narrative skills. He has a way with accents and he emotes very well. I hope to hear a lot more from him.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Completely Gobsmacked would do it justice. It describes perfectly the emotions Mark felt during the horrific chain of events before his HEA.

Funny! Gobsmacked!!

This is a great m/m romance... the whole gobsmacked with the bible was too funny!! I really enjoyed the story and the relationship between Mark and Tony... well worth a buy or credit...

Narration was pretty good... I am fan of Gunn after listening to Try and Tempt by Ella Frank... this is his older work b/c Gunn has gotten way better.. so kudos to Gunn!

Definitely worth the money

This was a new to me author, so I had low to no expectations going into this, since it was such a bargain! This book made me a fan. It's short and fun. I thought the narrator was great. I loved his Italian cop, Tony, and he perfectly captured the loveble but maddening nature of Mark. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good m/m romance.

Not Bad

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I would say that yes, the majority of the time I spent listening to this book was worth it. Why? Because it had a good blend of a strong male who wasn't DOMineering.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

That Mark saved his sorry ex. The least interesting were some of the accents.

How could the performance have been better?

I enjoy accents, just not this one...it was like I enjoyed some of the accent but then there were times when I was just like 'uh no'.

Did Men of Smithfield: Mark and Tony inspire you to do anything?

Reminded me that I need to make sure I KNOW who I am dealing with.

didn't care for the narration or the story. nothing grabbed my attention to keep me interested and I DNF at about 15 minutes in. maybe I just didn't care for the story because of the narrator, so I may still give the ebook a try
