Odachi, who is now well into his nineties, kept his Kamikaze past a secret for most of his life. Seven decades later, he agreed to sit for nearly seventy hours of interviews with the authors of this book—who know Odachi personally. He felt it was his responsibility to finally reveal the truth about the Kamikaze pilots: that they were unsuspecting teenagers and young men asked to do the bidding of superior officers who were never held to account.

Why use the terrible fake Japanese accent?

I think the book may be good, but the narration is TERRIBLE. I couldn’t get through 2 chapters. The terrible over the top accent adds nothing to the story. It’s just annoying. Cheesy is the word that comes to mind. Do yourself a favor and just read the book.

not a lot about being a kamikaze pilot

actually most of the book is about the author's life after world war II and being a kamikaze pilot. not why I bought the book. title is very misleading. this is more of a book about the authors life, not the memoirs of a kamikaze pilot. lost interest in the book about halfway through due to this fact, it's mostly about the author's life as a policeman in Japan after the war.
