Story
Millions of Americans know yoga as a superb form of exercise and as a potent source of calm in the midst of our stress-filled lives. Far fewer are aware of the full promise of yoga as "the way of the fully alive human being" - a 4,000-year-old practical path of liberation that fits the needs of modern Western seekers with startling precision. Now Stephen Cope, a Western-trained psychotherapist who has lived and taught for more than 10 years at the largest yoga center in America, offers this marvelously lively and irreverent "pilgrim's progress" for today's world.

Publisher's summary
Journey to the heart of yoga with acclaimed teacher Rolf Gates.
Are you looking for deeper meaning in your yoga practice? In Meditations on the Mat, popular yoga teacher and trainer Rolf Gates shares a four-part audio program to bring you in touch with the heart of yoga. Through guided meditations, skillful exercises, and down-to-earth teachings, Gates will help you attune to the spiritual dimensions of yoga - on the cushion, on the mat, and throughout everyday life.
Meditations on the fundamental skills of being, from the mat and into the world
Drawing from over 20 years as a yoga and meditation teacher, Gates has identified four fundamental skills that can easily and effectively be learned through meditation and expanded into our daily experiences:
- Wise effort - Set the stage for all other skills as you come into connection with the present moment
- Wise concentration - Release tension in the body and tune into the subtler aspects of your experience
- Wise mindfulness - Bring awareness to how consistent practice infuses your way of being the world
- Self-forgiveness - Cultivate an open heart with a series of healing meditations
"When we can rest in the felt experience of these skills during our meditation and yoga practices," teaches Gates, "we are better able to bring them into the more complex circumstances of our everyday lives." For practitioners of all levels and from all traditions, these meditations are the perfect complement to any yoga or mindfulness practice.

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

Story
The first two limbs of the eight-fold path of yoga sutras - the basic text for classical yoga - are examined in this spiritual guide to the practice of yoga. Foundational to all yogic thought, they are considered to be the guidelines to the yoga way of living that free individuals to take ownership of their lives, direct them toward the fulfillment they seek, and gain the skills to choose attitude, thought, and action.

Simply Amazing!!
I'm already on my second time listening. The message really hit home for me. I usually drift off with guided meditations but I was focused through ALL of the meditations. Rolf did a great job keeping my attention. At first, I thought this was just an audio version of his first book but this is completely different. 10 Stars!!!
