Publisher's Summary

This classic teaching by a Tibetan master continues to inspire both beginners and long-time practitioners of Buddhist meditation. Chgyam Trungpa Rinpoche shows that meditation extends beyond the formal practice of sitting to build the foundation for compassion, awareness, and creativity in all aspects of life. He explores the six activities associated with meditation in action - generosity, discipline, patience, energy, clarity, and wisdom - revealing that through simple, direct experience, one can attain real wisdom: the ability to see clearly into situations and deal with them skillfully, without the self-consciousness connected with ego.

Insightful

I've heard it 4 times and I get something from it each time. Just go with the flow. Lose our mind gain our senses. Stop using our mind and trust and use your senses.

Learn what to do with your life's manure

I got this because I finished reading Shambhala way of the spiritual warrior and I immediately needed more. There is something so grounded about his writing. Spiritual writers are usually half way up their own butts at the very least. Chogyam's instructions are based in Eastern Philosophy but they feel more based in Human philosophy.

Turns out Chogyam was also a super controversial which I love (give his wiki a read). But that makes me like him more.

Must read for anyone interested in spiritual development

Must read for anyone interested in spiritual development. It is written without the marketing hype, instead full of mini stories and paralalism, to help the reader not only understanding the point, but connecting to the point in such a way that one remembers better the 'why' part. Highly recommended.

Relistened to Meditation in Action Recently

It's a great book that outlines what meditation is and isn't. The book gives background information on the life of the Buddha, and some other great spiritual men of their times. Highly recommend it and also a decently short read.

Great classic of meditation

Excellent narration that added to the talks with its gradual and patient ambiance. Of course, the wisdom in these talks speaks for itself. The best introduction to meditation I've found.

Very good

I have been studying Tibetan Buddhism for over 15 years and I just found this book so clear and it really helped to deepen my understanding. This book is a great foundation for those that are new to meditation and those with some knowledge. I will listen to this again and again. Trungpa is amazing.

Very nice introduction to Buddhism

Easy to understand and is a book you could read again to understand more. The narrator does a nice job but fumbles a bit on some words and mispronounces some Indian names and Hindi/Sanskrit words (but that's relative).

Simply soothing

Narrated beautifully. The principles and history of meditation are shared in a simple narrative that breaks down complexities in leading a peaceful life. I thoroughly enjoyed this audible and would recommend it as a brief and accessible summary to the Buddhist traditions and essence of mediation.

Thought-provoking!

"Meditation in Action" introduced me to Chögyam Trungpa, and what an interesting man! His words are so warm and accessible that I feel like I know him. The way he delivers his views is so simple, yet so deep, that the book can be listenend to over and over again. The anecdotes he shares are both fun and enlightening. His voice deserves to be heard!

Thoughtful Approach

You won't really learn how to meditate from this book but you will learn about the philosophy of Buddhism and a meditative life. A good read, although the author died prematurely in a questionable context, proving, perhaps, that wisdom flows through any one of us, despite any human failings.
