Basically this book is simply scatterbrained.

Really wanted to like this book, but the author writes like a confused twelve year old, every other word is "basically" or "simply", very frustrating when trying to understand concepts, things either are or they aren't, saying "basically" and "simply" all the time tells me that the author is either unsure of the idea they are trying to convey and should not be a subject matter expert, or they are unsure of how to explain it and thus should not be authoring a book about said subject.

Overall it was so distracting and these words were said so often it ruined any chance of completing the book and so I gave up and returned it. Oh well, thanks for having an amazing return policy amazon, and to potential listeners beware, unless listening to what sounds like a child's explanation of meditation is appealing to you.

A Healing Book!!!

I was so surprised to see the one or two star reviews that I had to write one. I had this book for about a year before I actually started teaching a class myself. It provides me with a starting point for my day, helps me think, opens up my mind, challenges me, inspires me, but more importantly, allows me that time to simply be for a minute or two!!!!

Anger manage ideas are easy to follow.

Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners This is an excellent guidebook. If you have come across this area of focus, and you are ready for it, there is no better introduction to the concept of mindfulness than this book. As someone who's sought a solution to the general feeling of inauthenticity in life, this really explained to me -- in clear, sensible and non "touchy-freely" terms -- what the meaning of mindfulness is, why it is important, how to understand and practice it, and its value for a happier existence.

Very good book for beginners

Marcus Prentiss has achieved an enormous goal with Christ Centered Meditation---she has taken a spiritual subject (perceived by many to be esoteric) and made its benefits available to anyone who is willing to learn and practice. I purchased this book for my sister. I purchased this book for my Mother. And one for myself. This is the best book for everyone. Who has suffering in his or her life.

Great book, easy guide

Very insightful and eye opening. Great for people who are stressed, lost, seeking guidance or someone who just needs to take a step back and catch their self. I liked this book because it’s well written and helpful. Inside of this book I have gotten a comprehensive guides and discussion about the practicing of mediation.

One of the world's greatest minds

This is a very good resource for those interested in the topic. It's a bit technical, so don't expect to sit down and zip through it. I think it is one that I'll refer back to time after time. I tend to prefer 'crashing into a subject' and consume the contents all at once, so for me the writing style is not the type I'm used to. But I will treasure this book and take the time to absorb it and refer back to it as often as needed.

Extraordinary book.

I have been a student trying to learn how to meditate for over four decades. v one of the best and clearest teachers of spiritual practice alive today, has given me a gift in this book that makes more sense of stuff I've struggled with than any other book in the field. She practices and teaches Tibetan Buddhism, but is liberally accessible to persons, like me, who come from and follow other spiritual traditions.

Contemplations on what really matters

Marcus Prentiss I give five stars as he is one of my favourite philosophers. However, the editing on this translation, I give three stars as it could have been edited better as there are some errors. So overall that averages to a four star review from me. Nice size, small book to carry with you in a briefcase or overcoat. The idea is to start your day thoughtfully. I liked that, so I purchased this for my brother. I hope he likes it.

SO PRACTICAL!

As someone who is new to meditation, I found this book extremely helpful in developing my own practice. The meditations range from 15 -25 minutes each; there is a lot of variety and you have the ability to jump around, find the ones that you like best and the ones that work best for you. The book offers a good overview of what meditation is and its benefits (relief of stress, anxiety and sleeplessness, among other benefits) along with practical ways to implement meditation into your daily routine.

Extremely Helpful!!

I am a yoga teacher and have been studying meditation in depth for the last year. It can be hard to find reliable printed information from sources that have an in-depth understanding of the material. What I love most about this book is that it delivers clear competency about meditation and delivers it in a format that you can easily digest and reference again and again.

A work with lots of experience!!

The explanations are so original that I certainly did not find anything like this on the subject. The author seeks to associate quantum physics with the theme of the soul and the practice of meditation.

Great book for meditation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, do we all recognize that the author of this text, Marcus Prentiss ? If so, why have I not been forced to read this from a young age? This is quite possibly the most insightful, existential book I've ever listen. Emperor Aurelius has given us wisdom in its purest form. This should be a manual for every human's life. Every sentence is mind-numbingly profound. This book is so good, that I might just have the entire text tattooed on my body. There is so much argument over which translation is the best. I initially obtained the free version from project Gutenberg, but found it to be filled with too many embellishments from old English. I then looked at the modern Hays translation which many people seem to like, but found it to be too colloquial and it seemed to rob the text of its gravity. Finally I found gestalt with this penguin translation.

Best Daily Meditation Book in My Collection !!!!!!

“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard, accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.” For everyone that is not familiar with this classic you may know the adaptation into film, Apocalypse Now.. "Heart of Darkness" can either be listen as an adventure story of a young man's exploits in a foreign mysterious continent or a physiological thriller of another man's descent into madness. There is so much argument over which translation is the best. I initially obtained the free version from project Gutenberg, but found it to be filled with too many embellishments from old English.

You really do have time to meditate !!!!!!!!!!

This is an amazing book for anyone feel frazzled by life and looking for a way to find inner peace and self-love. It goes beyond the basics of meditation (which is made easy with step by step instructions) and focuses on the healing components of meditation and being true to yourself. Rebekah's personal stories are beyond inspiring while remaining completely relatable. You have the power to heal yourself, that is what this book helps you see. If you have ever experienced high anxiety and panic like you felt it was going to eat you alive, meditation is for you. Even if you've just experienced feeling disconnected and lacking motivation, meditation is for you. Rebekah has changed my life and for that I am forever grateful. I can relate to a lot of Rebekahs stories of growing up and not feeling safe. I have lived with high levels of anxiety all of my life.

Helpful

It was a good read but I found myself wanting more detail and more explanation. I was kind of hoping for more of a Jon Kabat Zin approach
